Third Person POV
Jeongguk hasn't spoken a word since they left the basement, since Taehyung left and the whole mansion has been enveloped by a dreaded silence.
Jeongguk was pacing back and forth in the hall, looking visibly distraught, angry, helpless and hurt. He was confused and surprised and he just didn't know how to handle all these emotions all at once.
"Jeongguk." Namjoon utters, wanting nothing more for Jeongguk to either stop for moment or yell his anger out on them. They'll take it.
Because Jeongguk's silence is way more dangerous.
"What do you want to do huh? Pacing back and forth like this won't solve anything." Namjoon utters. Jeongguk stops and looks at him, says nothing.
"What's done is done. He's out of here and he gave nothing to Hyunjae. If he did, we would've known." Namjoon says and the mention of him has Jeongguk seething again.
"He fucking betrayed me! Made a fool out of me since the first day!" Jeongguk yells, his composure finally slipping.
"And you have let him go. Hyunjae will have his way with him just like you wanted so get a grip on yourself."
I wanted him to feel the same for me. That's what Jeongguk wanted and not look where they stand.
"I should've trusted Yoongi hyung. He was right about him. Taehyung fucking made me doubt my own team!" Jeongguk exclaims, his anger making him shake.
He looks at Yoongi and expected a sparky reply, or a scoff, a smirk but nothing. Yoongi had a blank expression.
"You were right about him." Jeongguk says. Yoongi takes a few seconds to lift his gaze to look at Jeongguk.
"I just told you what I felt. I must say, he's a good actor. After that, I was also convinced that he's innocent." Yoongi let's out a scoff.
"Can't blame him though." Yoongi mumbles.
"What?" Jeongguk asks, takes a few steps towards Yoongi.
"I must say I'm damn impressed by him. How he made a fool out of us and in the end, of himself." Yoongi says.
"What are you trying to say, hyung?" Jimin mumbles.
"What---what went wrong that day? In the club?" Yoongi utters. "What did we do wrong?"
Jeongguk stays quiet at the questions. So does everyone else.
What indeed happen that night, four years ago? The first big mission Jeongguk was given and he had failed? Partly yes.
Failed to save that one life.
"The detonation occurred before it was timed. It was some error in the wiring." Hoseok says.
"Just a few more minutes if it had not blown up maybe his sister---". Hoseok stops when Jeongguk looks at him.
"It wasn't our fault. We-we didn't do it on purpose." Jeongguk stutters.
"But still---".
"It was an accident, Hoseok. You know it. We all do." Jeongguk cuts his words.
"But he doesn't know it. And even it it was an accident, it was still our fault." Yoongi utters. Jeongguk turns to him again.
"What are you all on about huh? Did you fucking forget what he did? Played us all right under our nose! We failed so many times because he told our secrets to that bastard!" Jeongguk exclaims.
