Prologue

Vampires are real.

That's a hell of a way to start but this story isn't actually about the vampires. It's actually about something a lot worse, if you can even imagine that.

My little group and I had been hunting and fighting with vampires for a few years. We knew what we were doing but we had discovered that we were on equal footing. They were stronger than us but we knew their weaknesses.

But slowly and surely, the vampires began leaving a larger mass of bodies in our large town. Every single night for the past week we had found another innocent person's body. And we didn't know how to stop them anymore.

The balance was finally tipping in their favour. Or so we thought.
