As the sun rose from the horizon of Seoul, Myeonji knew it was the start of a new day. She sat up from her bed after no sleep, her hair sticking up. All night her mind wandered to what happened yesterday and Chaewon's facial expression replayed in her head as she and Soobin conversed in the car ride home together.

Chaewon knows what's up.

Myeonji had been feeling so dejected lately she hadn't been focusing on herself that well. Just like how the happiness in her family has been going down, her grades weren't looking the best and she had no motivation to change that. She's cried almost every night and with no parents to tend to her side—to comfort her, Myeonji hasn't felt so tragic in all her life.

She lifted both her hands and covered her face, dragging them down to her cheeks. Her eyes stung really bad and she wanted to skip school today just so her friends, if they hadn't noticed already, wouldn't see her terrible state.

A loud notification ping from her nightstand managed to make her flinch slightly. It was really early in the morning and she had actually woken up before her alarm which wasn't a surprise. She couldn't find sleep at all and because of that she was extremely sleep deprived. Her sleep deprivation mixed with her growing melancholy wasn't a healthy mix, and the boy who texted her at 5:53 in the morning just now knew that.

Mustering up all her energy this cold, breezy morning, Myeonji leaned over to the left and grabbed her phone. She squinted her eyes as the bright LED screen hit her face, focusing on reading the notification that had garnered her attention.

are you okay, love?

Myeonji clasped her hand over her mouth, hoping to stop the sobs from leaving her mouth. She didn't deserve Beomgyu, the boy who knew how she felt without having to even ask. Beomgyu was observant, a trait he was glad he had. While the others chatted amongst themselves during their lunch break, he noticed how his girlfriend of already 5 months would sit quietly, picking at her food until he told her to eat. He noticed her usual bright smile absent on her lips these days and it killed him to know that the reason was out of his control, he couldn't make her parents get back together and he certainly couldn't do anything about Soobin.

Beomgyu was observant, and Beomgyu knew.

He was only hiding his anger and pain because he knew that Myeonji was the person who needed the comfort at the moment. But, what disappointed him even more was that Myeonji was lying to him. Beomgyu kept his promise of being more attentive about asking if she was feeling alright, it was the cause of a little argument they had months ago and was the cause of some words that haunted Beomgyu which Myeonji had blustered out.
