Part 57 - Male reader x SCP-054

I hoped that today would be a great day, but unfortunately, it was worse than terrible. Everything started with me getting an F from Maths, because I forgot my homework about integrals. It wasn't that bad for me, because I still had a chance to hand it in a second deadline, but then even if I did it perfectly, the highest grade which I could receive would be a C.

Furthermore, for some reason air conditioning in our school broke during one of the hottest days in this summer, and everyone in the school was sweating more than usually, and to make this even worse, water plumbing also broke, and there was no way for us to cool ourselves down.

However, at the very end of the school day, I have found my girlfriend cheating on me with a random guy from this school, which made me furious. I was sick of this entire day, so when I finally left the school, I immidiately ran to the nearby forest.

This was the only place where I had a chance to calm down. I took off my shirt and entered a nearby river, where I started swimming. Water was cold, which cooled me down from all this heat, and cleared my mind a little bit. River current was weak, and swimming in it wasn't dangerous, or at least that's what I thought.

While I was swimming, a branch from a nearby tree broke and fell into the river, landing on my back. From one side, the water was deep, so it didn't crush me immidiately, but allowed the water to absorb part of its kinethic energy. On the other hand, it was extremely heavy, so thanks to me being unlucky today it fell on my back.

I immidiately released most of air in my lungs due to unbearable pain, while the branch pulled me down, at the same time immobilizing my legs and preventing me from escaping. With the rest of oxygen in my body I tried to lift it, and somehow I succeeded, but when I tried to swim up, the lack of oxygen forced my body to unintentionally take a breath, allowing water to fill my lungs and cause a terrible pain in my chest, which made me lose consciousness.

When I opened my eyes I expected to find out, if afterlife exists or not, but I found myself lying on the ground next to the river, where I passed out. At the beginning I thought that I am a ghost, but pain in my chest reminded me, that somehow I am still alive. I started coughing, and small particles of water left my lungs. It took my some time before I got rid of all the water, but when it finally happened, I stood up and looked around.

I couldn't find anyone in the area, which was weird, because somebody had to help me in order to save my life, but for some reason they weren't there anymore. I looked at the river once again, and saw, that a small part of the water wasn't flowing with its current, but instead it stood in one place, like it was looking at me.

I came closer and tried to reach it, but I quickly got splashed with cold water. I took a step back and looked around, which allowed me to see a group of soldiers in gas masks, who saw me and approached me immidiately. One of them looked at me and said:

CI: What are you doing in here, young man?

I started shaking but responded to him.

You: I was swimming in here, because the day is extremely hot, I didn't know it was illegal...

CI: It is not illegal, but we are currently looking for somebody.

You: Who do you want to find?

CI: It is classified, but maybe you could help us. Have you seen anything strange, or unusual in this area?

I quickly thought about myself, who got rescued by an unknown person, and river splashing me by itself. However, at the same time I didn't trust those soldiers, so I have decided to lie.

You: Unfortunataly no, but there is a chance that I am blind and I missed something.

CI: It is fine, we will continue our searching then. Lets go team, she has to be...

Commander: Wait a second Mark.

CI: What happened commander?

Commander: I just realised something. This river in here leads to another, bigger one. Luckily for us, it will take her a long time before reaching this point, but if she somehow gets there, then neither us or the Foundation will find her.

CI: But what is the problem at checking the second river?

Commander: One question. Which grade did you have from Geography?

CI: I had a B. Barely, but a B.

Commander: Okay, then use your brain cells and tell me. Where does this river end?

CI: In an ocean, why do you... Oh...

Commander: Exactly. If she gets there, then we will never find her again. So instead of checking the entire river, we will secure the entire estuary and prevent her from escaping.

CI: ... We have to hurry then. But what about this civilian?

Commander: He has no clue what we are talking about, just get into the car and go!

They turned around and ran in the direction of their car. After one minute I have heard them drive away, which made me turn around and look at the river again. However, when I turned around, I saw a water girl sitting in there and looking at me surprised. I quickly realised, that these soldiers were talking about her, but before I was able to do anything, she asked:

054: Why did you lie? You knew that I was there.

You: I-I don't know, I didn't trust these soldiers for some reason.

054: And neither do I. They are known as Chaos Insurgency, and they use people like me as their weapons.

You: Is there an organization that works againts them?

054: There are few, but I cannot tell you about them. If you knew too much, it would be dangerous to you.

You: I already know more than I should, who are these groups?

054: ... I can tell you only about Serpent's Hand, who helps people like me. But I cannot tell you more.

You: ... Alright then. But why this Chaos group was trying to catch you?

054: I escaped from a different group, which wasn't bad, but at the same time I wanted to be free and not contained, and when they found out, they immidiately started searching for me.

You: Out of curiosity. Was it you who saved my life?

054: Yeah, luckily I wasn't too late. But if you would like to return the favour, then I need to get to the ocean in order to fully escape. Could you help me with that?

You: Wait. So I am supposed to somehow hide you, transport to the ocean and release while these groups will try to hunt me for helping you?

054: You are right, that's too...

You: I am in, wait for me in here, I will take my car.

I left her and returned to my clothes, put them on and ran in the direction of my house. My parents were asking me why I am so late, but I made an excuse that me and my friends made a plan to drive to a beach for a weekend, and I asked if I could borrow the car. My father took the key and gave it to me, but reminded me that if I broke the car then I would pay for it.

I took some money with me and drove in the direction of the forest. I took the girl with me and hid her in the luggage carrier. Luckily she could control the water in her so it wouldn't get too wet in there, and I drove in the direction of the ocean.

During my journey, police stopped me in order to check if I am sober, and when it turned out that I didn't drink anything, I drove away. During the entire trip I was afraid that somebody will arrest me for that, but luckily we arrived without any problems.

When we arrived, I drove to a small forest near the ocean and told her to follow me. We went through it without any problems and found ourselves few meters from the ocean. I looked around and realised, that there were no people in here, because it was forbidden to swim in this place. I looked at the girl and told her, that the area was clear. She quickly ran to the ocean and jumped into it. Before leaving, she waved to me for the last time before dissapearing in ocean's water.

I went back to my car and drove to a hotel, where I parked it and got myself a room for the weekend. I drove to this place, so I may have some fun while I am in here. The next days are supposed to be almost as hot as today, and ocean's water will be perfect to cool my body.
