Faeriel's wide eyes anchored to Legolas' glistening sapphires as the forest blurred past. The ellon leapt nimbly across boughs, needing no hands for balance, cradling Faeriel to him as he bore her down to the forest floor. Within a hollow he laid her, upon a smooth, thornless expanse of root. Faeriel could sense Rusco hovering nearby. Her heart still rattled like a leaf in a squall but it had begun to sink in. We are safe.

Legolas leaned over her and cupped her cheek. His strong jaw clenched and his lip quivered. Faeriel longed to hug him so much her heart ached.

"I shall free you now." His murmur sounded musical even as his tone cracked and trembled. Legolas drew forth one of his blades. He inserted his fingers into the webbing at the side of her neck, his knuckles pressing in, creating space for the blade. "Can you feel my hand?"

"Nay," Faeriel murmured, feeling greatly unnerved that she could not feel his touch.

"Stay very still," he instructed. The lethal tip of his blade came into view and she knew he was bringing it a hair's breadth from her neck. But she trusted him completely as he began the process of cutting her loose from the accursed binding. With a sickly squelch, the webbing severed readily.
