A/N: Just a little heads up when it comes to the band and their songs. I will reference some current songs throughout but for the sake of the story we're going to pretend that Hot Mess have written them because the ones I have chosen relate back to the characters and it makes sense, though I'm not claiming that the songs actually belong to them. At the start of every chapter that includes a song the band will play, I will always state what that song is and who it is by, though for the story it will be 'by Hot Mess'. I hope that makes sense!! Also because seraphic is set in 1988, we know the characters haven't heard of the songs before ;)
Woah that's a lot of writing but I just wanted to clear that up so there's no confusion! Anyway, I hope you enjoy 🖤

Cherry Flavoured- The Neighbourhood,
for the story, it's by Hot Mess. 🍒-
I almost couldn't believe what I was seeing. The bar was more packed than I'd ever seen any nightclub, the hoards of waiting bodies stood clumped together. From where Avery and I were— which was towards the side and further out— we could see absolutely everything, so clear and alive. The walls were buzzing with life as everybody waited for Hot Mess to join the stage. The venue was far bigger than any bar I'd come across and as many times as I'd tried to pinch myself to see if I'd wake up in the warmth of my own bed, I never did.
"It really feels like we shouldn't be here right now. Can you believe this? Look how many people there are, look over there, come on that's absurd." Avery shrieked, pointing out towards my left. She was right, it was absurd. I felt in no way worthy of being in the spot I was currently in.
It wasn't long after we'd settled into the room that Hot Mess had then been called, they were on strict orders to set themselves up and go over the few songs they were going to play for everyone. Avery and I had been escorted out of the room without a look back, the seemingly generous staff member had led us towards our designated spot and now, it was simply nothing but a waiting game.
"What's going on with you and Leon?" I blurted, unable to keep the question inside of my mind any longer. I had thought about it constantly, I wasn't exactly sure why I did so, but I had decided that it was because of my situation with Harry— something I was most likely building up in my own head. Seeing Leon and Avery together was refreshing because they knew not to hold their actions back, they did as they felt. I wondered if I should have seen it coming from way back when Leon had mentioned her,
"Oh, the looker who came here yesterday for you? She was cute."
I shook my head. Surely not. Except it wasn't really my business to butt into, if they wanted to peruse something, it wasn't in my power at all to come between that. As good as I was at reading Avery, this was something that I couldn't interpret from her, she was good at hiding it.
"Leon. He is- definitely something," She hummed as she really thought about the question, "in all honesty? It's really nothing, we kind of hit it off at Laina's party and it felt really nice— just speaking with him. We both agreed that we wanted to fuck, but when I say that's all it is, I mean it. That's really all it is, we both want nothing more."
I stood taken aback by her rawness, the thought of Leon being so open and outright honest made me want to giggle like a high school girl who didn't know how to hear such blunt words. "Oh. So you two- are you both- like you're both planning to fuck?" I questioned, trying to understand her words the best I could. "It sounds so fucking stupid out loud, but ultimately yeah. It's not like we've got it all planned out, it's more when it happens it happens and then that's it. Goodbye rockstar." Her eyes glistened as if she were reciting her favourite poem, a bittersweet situation.
