ricky looked up from his phone, seeing nini with her eyes still on her book as he stuffed his phone into his back pocket and patted the front of his apron softly before clearing his throat and leaning against the counter
"hey-"
"GAH!" nini exclaimed, jumping out of her skin from fright so suddenly that she had fallen off the stool she was sitting on, the people of the café stopping as they looked at her in concern
"oh my god-nini!" ricky breathed as he rushed around the counter to the girl who was trying to sit up as she groaned in pain
"ouch..." she mumbled, feeling her boyfriend take ahold of her hand and help her sit up as he bent down next to her
"i'm so sorry." he apologized with worry "are you okay? you're not hurt right-?"
nini solely shook her head "um...no-just-maybe just sore but nothing's broken..."
"okay," ricky exhaled in relief "how come you were so jumpy? was the book that interesting?" he asked with a grin, trying to lighten up the mood
nini let out an anxious laugh, bringing her other hand to the back of her head "uhh-yes! i-i guess..."
in all honesty, nini had been staring at the same page of the book for the past hour and a half while ricky was working...she'd been deep in her thoughts about how she was going to begin to tell him about what benjamin had told her
she'd thought of maybe going to erica for advice...but she also knew that her aunt was going to say the exact same thing: that she needed to tell ricky and talk to him about it.
so, nini had tried coming up with different ways to approach the conversation...
she didn't want to be abrupt...he couldn't have that - especially not right now - but how do you start telling your boyfriend that you have to leave and never be with or see him again?
