Lily clears her throat, putting an idea into action.
"Blossom..." she starts to sing. You burst into giggles in response. Sometime last month, you and Lily had sung - more like screamed - the Powerpuff Girls theme song while drunk on a New York rooftop restaurant.
"Oh god not this again..." Monica rolls her eyes. She had been the sole witness to the original performance.
"Commander and leader!" you continue singing.
"Bubbles! -" Lily continues with more confidence.
" - She is the joy and the laughter!" you're giggling and going off-tune now.
"Buttercup! - "
"I don't know these guys," Monica mutters in the direction of the guy who's still in the elevator with you three.
"She is the toughest fighter -" you nudge Monica when you sing this line.
"Powerpuff save the day," Lily joins you in the chorus.
"I mean there are better anthems out there," Monica talks over all your singing. A hint of a smile is visible on her face as you finally look energetic. Back to your optimistic, endearing self.
"Fighting crime, trying to save the world
Here they come just in time,
the POWERPUFF GIRLS!"
Both of you are acting out the song with gusto, giggling all over the place.
"POWERPUFF!" You shout together, as the elevator stops.
"Teu teu teu teu teu!" The outro is sung by you alone and coincides with the elevator doors opening. Lily is doubling up with laughter.
You're feeling a lot more yourself by now. Monica clears her throat loudly. That brings your attention to the scene outside the elevator.
A man and a woman stand across from you. The latter you identify as Kim Seyeon, a label executive you've been in communication with. Judging by her smile in your direction, she's here to escort you to the meeting. The man you recognize too. Lily also recognizes him - and drops the tablet.
Well. Damn.
You sincerely hoped to impress Kim Namjoon whenever you got a chance to meet him. A part of you is extremely embarrassed that the first impression he has of you is your terrible rendition of the Powerpuff theme song.
Worst things can happen, Y/N, so snap out of it and pretend this didn't happen.
Relatively calm, you exit the elevator into a sleek glass and steel corridor. Everything, from the floor to the blinds that shade the rooms are in shades of cool gray.
But your eyes are fixed on the person in front of you. He grins at you, the world-famous dimples and everything. With a hand extended out to you, he says, "Hi. It's RM."
"Hi, I'm Y/N. Honored to finally meet you!" you respond a lot more confidently than you feel.
"Likewise." His tone is formal yet cheerful.
You both shake hands, and he continues, "Seyeon shi was just telling me all about you - I was listening to Leave Me Alone the other day and -", he starts to sing, "every day lost between yesterday and tomorrow... - that whole verse - did you write that?"
Your heart skips a beat that he knows your lyrics.
"I did, yeah," you nod. He exclaims in approval, "It's a pretty dope verse."
Suddenly, he notices someone behind you and yells something in Korean. Kim Seyeon, who's been chatting with Monica, understands and laughs.
The three of you turn in confusion. It's just the guy who was in the elevator with you all this time. He removes his baseball cap, responding to RM in Korean.
Oh god.
You'd recognize those fine eyebrows anywhere. You can't believe you rode the elevator with him without realizing it was him.
And now here he was, in an oversized T-shirt and cargo pants staring at you with an amused look.
