Lorenzo POV

Many hours later, I was back in Italy.

The Don had sent me a car to welcome me back and let me go straight to sleep when I got into the mansion.

I woke up to the smell of a big lunch being made, presumably by Nonna Cortez seeing as this was her house.

She wouldn't let anyone else in the kitchen unless it was family, and she didn't want to hire anyone to work in the house except for cleaners.

I went to the bathroom and discarded my shorts and boxers, stepping into the shower and turning on the water.

I took a shower, taking my time and staying under the warm water for long enough.

I changed into some causal clothes and as I was reaching for the doorknob, a loud knocking startled me slightly.

I opened the door to be greeted with Javier, a great smile on his face as if he had so much to tell me.

"Enzo, como estas?" He asked, hugging my side as I answered him.

"Bien, bien. And you?"

"I'm good, man. I finally got me a girl and I've been so much happier since."

"I can't wait to meet her, I'm glad you've found someone to make you happy." I said as I smiled at him.

He nodded then took me downstairs, telling me all about the girl he had met and how they instantly hit it off when they bumped into each other at the club one night.

We entered the kitchen and Nonna welcomed me with a warm hug, shoving a spoon in between my lips so that I could taste some of her already amazing cooking.

However the taste was completely different to what I knew the sauce as.

"Il sale, Nonna. Add some sale to it." I said to her.
[translation: The salt, Nonna. Add some salt to it]

"Ah sì!! Welcome back, Lorenzo. " She said, realising what she had forgotten as she kissed my cheeks in gratitude.

My heart warmed at her love and I smiled at her happily.

Either way, the food smelt delicious and I couldn't wait to have some.

I helped set the table for everyone and placed the pots of steaming sauce and other food items on the table, not before placing heat proof mats underneath.

When Don came down, he greeted me with a father-like hug of some songs and there was a feeling inside of me that made me realise what this was.

This was family. My family.

Everyone came down to eat, seating themselves at the table as we talked and served one another.

We talked business and about our personal lives too.

The food was amazing as always and I was so grateful to be back.

"Lorenzo, after we've eaten, you and I have some business to deal with. I need your help on some paperwork among other things." The Don said, before turning to his wife and making sure that she had had a little bit of everything.

"Of course Don, I'll be there."

He nodded at me and we continued to eat, Señora asking me about my time in Mexico and telling me how she longed to go back to Mexico for some time.

Unknown POV

"Lauren, it's such a shame you're leaving us." Tony's wife said as she pulled me into a suffocating hug.

I had decided that I wanted to go back to Italy. I had a nice time in Mexico but I had to keep moving if I didn't want to be caught. Soon enough, someone would be looking for me and I had to leave soon.

Italy was my next resort of safety. I had been there before and I had a few trust worthy contacts there so it seemed like a smart idea to go back.

"I know, I know. I will miss you and Tony so much; I owe it to you both for me being able to live here with the salary you provided me with. Thank you so much." I replied, patting her shoulder with the free arm I had.

I left the restaurant, with his wife locking up behind me, and began walking to my makeshift apartment.

I patted my pockets as I walked, making sure I had all my things in case I had dropped something along the way.

My airpods, the check, my keys, and my phone were all in my pocket and luckily, nothing was missing.

When I opened the door to my apartment, I began packing my suitcase and packing the few belongings I had into it.

I was also allowed hand luggage which included a backpack, which was lucky for me as I still had other clothes and items to carefully stuff into it.

Once everything was packed up, I grabbed the ticket that I had bought the night before and went outside with my belongings, calling a taxi so that i could travel to the airport.

The driver wasn't talkative, and I was thankful for that, so I put in my headphones and listened to music as we kept driving to the central airport.

The night sky was littered with stars and the moon was an accurate crescent shape, sitting in the sky as if it was pinned to the spot.

"Señora, we're here." He said, slowing the car down.

I checked the meter and rifled through my pockets, making sure I had the right amount of money with a little extra for the man himself.

I thanked him and got out of the car, grabbing my bags from the back and watching as his car drove off down the road and into the distance.

The airport was easy to navigate through and I got to the gate just in time as passengers were beginning to board the plane.

Carefully walking through the aisle, holding my backpack so that I wouldn't hurt anyone by accident, I found my seat and placed it in the overhead storage after taking out a book that I had got along with my phone and Airpods.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your captain speaking..."

The speech made by the pilot faded out as I turned up the volume of my music, pulling out the attached table so that I could rest my book on top.

I flicked it open and went to the page that my book mark sat in between and began reading.

It was going to be a long flight, and I had to keep myself entertained.
