「 Rewritten 」

All four of you walk start boarding the plane, making your way through the pack of people who were trying to get to their seats, just like how the four of you were trying to find your own seats on the plane. Thankfully it didn't take too long – you didn't really have the energy to push past with people - with your mom's sharp eyes as she beckon's aunt Sherry.

"Sherry! Our seats are over here!"

Both of you and your mom made your way to your own seats which were just right behind where Dre and aunt Sherry's. Setting your duffel bag up from the compartment, you finally collapse on your seat with a heave, taking out your phone to check and estimate the time of the arrival of your flight you were surprised to see a message from Uncle Jeremy already.

- Don't forget, no boys allowed! -

You couldn't help but smile at this yet before you could reply, your ears perk up when you hear aunt Sherry studying how to speak and understand Chinese asking Dre about what he remembers. Knowing your cousin, he didn't try to bother learning the language and you were right when Dre tried to avoid the topic.

Looking over you them from your seat, you could see him holding a magazine and flipping it open, showing pictures of buildings that seem to look old and run down in China rambling on.

"Look mom, in China everything is old, there's old houses, old parks, old people-"

"Bro that's ageism"

Dre shot you a look over his shoulder as you stuck out your tongue at him, lifting the magazine in his hands to show his mom, he pointed a picture of an old man stating "Look this guy is at least 400 years old"

Turning back to your phone to reply back to uncle Jeremy you could hear aunt Sherry sigh trying to teach Dre and let him focus on learning Chinese.

- Believe me, you should be telling that to mom -

The moment you sent the message the three dots indicating a reply were quick to appear before uncle Jeremy's reply pop on your screen.

- You're right thanks, I'll make sure to tell her you aren't allowed around a boy after you're 50. Have a safe trip! -

Smiling at the reply, you couldn't help but shake your head at the message, turning your attention back to Dre when you see him attempting to talk in Chinese -which was him actually spouting nonsense- to a guy across from him that looks to be Chinese in appearance.

"Nihao mao shushan mooji..." Dre awkwardly speaks and you didn't know whether to laugh or facepalm, the man beside him leans over and casually replies back.

"Dude, I'm from Detroit"

Dumbfounded and for sure embarrassed Dre awkwardly greets him back "Oh...what's up?" The man gave a nod of acknowledgment before going back to do his own business, you couldn't help but snicker at just what happened as Dre turns to face you with a scowl.

"Shut up [Y/n], like you know how to speak Chinese" He retorts and not wanting to back out as you grin at him cheekily, unlike him you did study how to speak.

"Well for your information, dear cousin I know how to speak"

You couldn't help but grin wider at the dumbfounded expression on his face, at first, he tries to say something but close his mouth before letting out a sigh "I don't know what you said but I stand corrected" and turns back to face the front.

Not long enough, the plane finally starts to take off just as it finally sinks in watching Detroit get smaller and farther away from the window this was finally it. For a 13-hour flight towards China, you and Dre pass the time talking or joking while getting a few shares of scolding from both of your mothers when the two of you get too noisy.

Waking up by the shaking of your shoulder, you tried to blink away your sleepiness from your eyes as your mom starts to usher you awake. You sat up from your seat, feeling the bones in your back crack from the odd position you had been sleeping on your chair, grabbing your duffel bag from the compartment all four of you made your way out.

You finally arrive in China, you couldn't believe it. You gaze everywhere seeing all the people around as both you and Dre follow behind your mom's tracks. You didn't know how to feel, amaze? Sad? Happy? Home-sick? It was all overwhelming, you guys were really going to live here.

Arriving by the number gate, you heard a woman calling out or something close to Dre and aunt Sherry's last name but you were also surprised when you heard the sound of your own last name. Both of you and Dre turn your head towards the sound of the woman who was holding up a whiteboard with your last names being misspelled.

Instead of Parker it was Packer and instead of Reagan it was Ragen, you couldn't help but sweatdrop but walk towards the woman's direction when your mom and Sherry went to approach her. Both your moms were quick to correct her about the misspelling of the names as the woman apologizes, she then leads you four towards a van where you guess that will take you guys to the apartment.

Throughout the ride, you look out the window and couldn't stop the awestruck expression on your face as you watch all the different and amazing buildings and parks of China. With every new attraction that came, the woman who was escorting the four of you explain each and every building you pass through.

Upon seeing something up ahead, the familiar and large beautiful building you saw online in pictures you couldn't help but be amazed to see it in person blurting out "It's the Olympic Village!"

Just as you realize that you say that out loud you couldn't help but stammer as the woman looks at you from the rearview mirror with a smile.

"That's right, it's beautiful, isn't it?"

"Sure is" You reply sheepishly as your mom gave you a smile, aunt Sherry turns to look over at Dre with a grin replying back from what her son had been rambling earlier on the plane.

"See Dre? There's nothing old in China"

The trip didn't take too much time as you all pass by a small town, people were everywhere walking about, enjoying their day. Near the stop where the woman had parked the car right in front of the apartment building, you saw a park just up ahead.

Getting out of the van as you finally gaze upon the building, this is where you were going to live from now on. A place that you'd be going to call your new home.
