Code: Overlord

Part 17

No POV 

The story begins not with our heroes and instead with the local city guard that were currently guarding that gates to the cemetery, bored out of their minds as they were talking amongst themselves 

Guard: "Looks like another uneventful night" 

Guard 2: "It's been a while since we've seen any action. Even the undead have been-" 

The guard was stopped however when the sound of footsteps rushing towards them caught their attention and they looked in the direction to see that it was the Blades of Darkness that were running in their direction, putting the guards on alert as the adventurers came to a stop before them 

Peter: "You need to let us through, Nfirea's been kidnapped and being held hostage inside. they're going to make him raise an army of the undead" 

Guard: "Nfirea? The pharmacist? How'd this happen?" 

Peter: "There's no time to explain, you've got to let us in-" 

They were cut off when something loud echoed throughout the graveyard, everyone going silent as one of the soldiers looked up to the guard's above the walls and caught their attention 

Guard: "Hey, check out what that noise was, see if you can see anything" 

Guard 3: "Yes sir" 

the third guard then looked into the cemetery, only for his eyes to widen in both fear and surprise as he called out his findings 

Guard 3: "Holy shit, there's an entire army of the undead out there!" 

Hearing that, every guard and the swords of Darkness went on full alert as they traversed the stairs to the top of the wall to look into the cemetery and saw that there were hundreds if not thousands of skeletons walking towards them at a slow yet steady pace, each armed with rusted swords and damaged shields while a few still had old armor they were buried in as the guard captain pushed himself to the front of the small group 

Captain: "I've never seen this many undead at once, there's at least a thousand of them!" 

Guard: "What do we do?" 

The Captain then looked to his troops and the adventurers with a stern expression as he drew his sword and gave his commands 

Captain: "Notify the reserves and the adventurer's guild for backup, we'll try and hold them off the gate until reinforcements arrive!" 

Peter: "We'll try to help in any way we can!" 

???: "Hope you don't mind if we lend a hand" 

Hearing the new voice, they all turned to see two individuals which the camera didn't allow us to see as the captain spoke up 

Captain: "The more the better, get ready!" 

With that, the scene then changed to a new view where we see Y/n and Momon rushing down the streets, the latter riding atop the King of the forest while the former was running alongside the two 

Y/n: "So, what did you call her?" 

Momon: "I have decided to take her as a pet and name her Hamsuke" 

Hamsuke: "Very honored to be serving under you two, I am" 

Y/n: "Riiiight, well anyway, what can I expect when we get there?" 

Momon: "Nfirea is surrounded by thousands of undead skeletons" 

Y/n: "Are these the Dark Souls type? or the Elder Scrolls type"
