Chapter 13 Day Off

There was a spring in Mariah's step this morning as she headed for the shower. Nothing to do with the great sleep she'd just woken up from ! It was all because she was just about to spend the whole day with Tessa . How great is that ? She thought to herself. I wonder what we will get up to ? I forgot to ask Tessa if she wanted to go some where specific ? Oh well I'll know in a couple of hours she said to herself. Once she'd got out of the shower she was debating whether to straighten her hair or leave it to dry naturally curly. I have two hours I'll let it dry . Also Tessa has never seen me with straight hair. Tessa was full of the joys of spring when she woke up too. I'm so glad I decided to call Mariah back after she'd left the message last night ! Now we get to spend the whole day together. Tessa quickly scanned her phone for some places to go that she thought Mariah might like. Ok I think I have an idea with what we're going to do , although Mariah might have some idea's of her own ? Thought Tessa . She looked at her Fitbit Oh god ! It's ten already. I'd better get a move on if I don't want to be late. 

She climbed out of her comfy bed and headed for the shower. Ten minutes later she was out and started to sort out what she was going to wear. Something warmer than last time she thought. Smiling to herself. It had snowed a little bit since last night , so it was a little chillier out . Definitely a scarf, hat and glove's sort of day she thought. She even sorted out her thicker coat , along with a good pair of thick socks and her winter boots. Plus a lovely woollen jumper in a lovely red colour which was a Christmas present from Cindy and Carl, to go with that she wore her thickest pair of black jeans. She always wore black of some description . But she was happy with her look she took another look at her Fitbit it was nearly eleven, time to start walking to the meeting spot . She headed for the door . Mariah scrunched her hair dry. She looked out of her bedroom window , people are a bit wrapped up she thought. So i need to sort out my winter coat, boots , scarf, hat and gloves. Once she'd found all that she started to get ready. She found a lovely thick pair of light blue jeans and a pair of socks which were a Christmas present from Tyler. She smiled while she remembered what he had said . You'll need these living in Boston it can get very chilly there this time of year. It does said Mariah . Smiling at him. They will come in very handy thankyou. 

She gave him a peek on the cheek. Which made him turn bright red. She slid them on and oh they felt so cosy and warm as she put her boots on over the top. On her top half of her body she found a lovely amber coloured sweater and underneath she put on a Pink Floyd t-shirt. Ok I'm ready for anything Tessa has in mind she thought. Oh I'd better get a shift on it's ten to eleven . She grabbed her coat and off she went to meet Tessa at the rendezvous. As Mariah approached she could see Tessa waiting for her already. She tapped her on the shoulder and Tessa turned around to face her. Hi ! Hi please tell me you've not been waiting for me for ages ? Because I checked my watch and I'm right on time. Tessa laughed. No! No! your fine time wise said Tessa it just didn't take as I thought to walk here. I've been here about five minutes said Tessa. Oh that's all right then said Mariah. Where we off to then ? Well is there anywhere you want to go ? asked Tessa. Not really I've never been to Boston before, I only came here to go to Uni Said Mariah. Oh I see said Tessa Can I ask you a question then ? Sure shoot said Mariah Is there anything you don't like doing ? Err Mariah had to think a minute . No I can't think of anything I really don't like doing she said. Great said Tessa that means we can do all the things I had planned . She smiled at Mariah. 

Come on lets go said Tessa I want to start exploring the city we've both adopted for the next few year's. Ok said Mariah but can we please get coffee first ? Yeah sure why not said Tessa. They stopped at a pavement coffee house. They both realised they liked the same coffee a soy latte. They also grabbed a bagel with cream cheese because neither of them had bothered having  breakfast when they got up. There wasn't much chit chat between them. Mariah was expecting a barrage of questions . But nothing ! Tessa sat there eating her bagel and drinking her coffee, the questions she wanted to ask Mariah were not forth coming. She was so anxious they would not come out of her mouth. they left the coffee house and started walking . Where are you taking me first ? asked Mariah. Well I thought we'd do a little walk along the freedom trail first. Apparently it's a lovely walk it covers sixteen of the main historic sights in Boston. How far is it ? asked Mariah Oh about two and a half miles I think. Is that ok ? It is I put my comfy boats on for walking. She smiled at Tessa. Right well lets go then said Tessa. How do you know where to go ? Oh it says the trail is marked by bricks apparently. It's a unique collections of museums, churches, parks, meeting houses and historic markers tell the story of the American revolution and beyond.
