"Get the fuck in!"
Namjoon's eyes widened and snapped to the door as soon as it got opened, revealing Sungjin on the other side who pushed the red-haired male into the room, making him fall onto the ground. A rotting, fetid smell pervaded the air immediately, making Namjoon scrunch his nose in disgust. "I brought you a friend, Namjoon", Sungjin said, but Namjoon's entire attention was drawn to the boy on the floor, his eyes wide in shock as he gaped at him, "I hope you'll treat our guest properly"
Sungjin closed the door after that, leaving the two alone inside. Taehyun immediately felt intimidated by the alpha werewolf's presence and crawled back as far from him as he could, pressing his back against the wall in the corner as small whimpers and shaky breaths rolled off his chapped lips.
"I won't do anything to you", Namjoon said with a slight, bitter chuckle, leaning against the wall with the back of his head as he was sitting on the floor also. Even though there was a bed and chairs in the room, Namjoon was still spending days on the ground if he wasn't with Sungjin. It wasn't like he ever wanted to be near him, but the younger would force him sometimes since he needed someone to brag to.
Despite his words, Taehyun didn't seem convinced, so he brought his knees to his chest and wrapped his arms around them to make himself as small as possible while his body shook from coldness and some pain.
"I didn't think he would bring you here so soon", Namjoon said as he stared at the wall before him, wanting to start a conversation, but Taehyun didn't seem to be wanting to talk to him, "That bastard had planned everything perfectly from the start", Namjoon said in a disgusted and annoyed tone, a scowl forming on his face, "He fooled all of us really well, even your boyfriend"
"Don't dare to mention him", Taehyun gritted his teeth, his eyes full of rage and hatred as they gave the other male a deadly glare, making Namjoon's eyes snap at him.
The boy looked horrible and weak. His body was shaking and Namjoon could even notice some moisture on his forehead. The colour of his skin was close to becoming completely similar to the dead human's and his eyes were lifeless. Namjoon even felt a twitch of pity towards him, but he immediately shook it off. He still wasn't used to letting himself feel sympathy towards others' pain. He was still trying to suppress it.
It had already gotten dark outside. The night sky was hovering over the earth. After some time Taehyun leaned against the wall with his palm to support himself as he got on his feet with shaky knees. He wasn't feeling well. On the contrary, he was feeling like he would collapse soon and it was making him afraid. If something would happen to him before he could get enough information about the Dark Web, then it would be over for all of them. He no longer assumed that going there in that condition was a good idea, but there was no way back now. He needed to do everything to succeed and maybe a little conversation with Namjoon wouldn't hurt either, however, Taehyun didn't trust him and was afraid that the male would tell Sungjin about it.
Namjoon noticed how the male was stumbling as if he was barely standing on his feet. He wanted to ask him if he was okay or not, but he wasn't going to since Taehyun was being a brat.
The whole situation was so ironic. They were deadly enemies in the past. Namjoon and his pack even tried to kill him, but they were in the same condition now, under the mercy of the same enemy. Maybe it was Namjoon's fault that Taehyun was having to suffer like that now. If his man hadn't murdered him, Taehyun wouldn't have to be there now and maybe even Beomgyu wouldn't be lying in the cold ground. It was all his fault and Namjoon was feeling quite guilty for that. No day would pass without him thinking about that and now that he knew that his days were numbered, he couldn't help but think about every innocent person he had ruined and every crime he shouldn't have committed. He had always been nothing, but Sungjin's dog and now he was being destroyed exactly by him.
Seoul, South Korea
A day later
"What's that?", Yeonjun asked in confusion after Kai tossed the folder on the table in the conference room where they all had gathered, watching it curiously as the younger opened it and revealed printed papers inside it.
"We met Sungjin's one scientist yesterday. Her name is Jiho", Kai said to him while Yeonjun held the papers, reading them with puzzled and curious eyes, "That's her husband right here", Kai said, pointing out a picture of a man in the corner of the paper, causing Yeonjun's eyes to drift to it, "He doesn't know anything about his wife's work, because if he finds out, it will lead their relationship to destruction since they stand on totally different sides of politics", after reading information about the scientist's husband on the paper, Yeonjun understood why Kai was saying something like that, but he didn't know yet how it could be helpful to them, so he looked at Kai with questioning eyes, "We met Jiho and threatened her that we would reveal the truth to her husband if she wouldn't do us a favour. As we expected, her marriage and son turned out more essential to her than her work and contract with the government, so she agreed to give us the drug whenever it's done. She said they'd finish it in 3 days. She also agreed to give us every document which is kept in the building and proves the government's participation in the experiments, so we'll be able to reveal them also"
Yeonjun's eyes looked thoughtful as he processed the information, his fingers rubbing his chin in a brooding way, "We don't have a guarantee that she won't cheat on us", he stated.
"She didn't seem like a person who would risk her family life for work", Kai tried to assure, "I wouldn't say that if I didn't see that with my own eyes"
"He's right", Jisoo spoke up and Yeonjun looked at her with hesitation in his eyes this time, "I'm sure she will fulfil her promise. She just has no other way"
Yeonjun had to think for a moment. It was risky. A person from the outside world knowing about their intentions wasn't safe, but on the other side, there was a chance that that plan would succeed. Kai and Jisoo had already spoken with that woman anyways and now they could do nothing to change that no matter how unpleasant it sounded to Yeonjun. Maybe it was better to go with the flow. He drifted his eyes to Lisa and Jennie who were sitting on the chairs around the table with brooding faces, snapping them out of their thoughts, "What do you think?"
Lisa looked at him, heaving a sigh as she said, "I think we need to take advantage of the possibility, but we must also be ready for the worst"
Ready for the worst. She was right. They needed to be ready for every scenario, especially, for the worst of them all.
"What about Yoongi hyung?", Kai suddenly asked as he seated himself beside the alpha, "Hasn't he sent his answer to us?"
Yeonjun slowly bent his knees to sit on the chair, his eyes thoughtful as they were fixed on the table for no specific reason, "I received his letter this morning"
Everyone looked at him with anticipated, but somewhat scared eyes at that, hoping they were going to hear good news instead of the terrifying one.
"He's ready to help us"
