After having a long conversation with Melissa about me and Chase, I realised that living with him means taking our relationship too fast, too soon. So I decided to stay with Melissa till my apartment is completely okay to live.

Chase straight out ignored my texts and calls for hours when I told him about me staying with Melissa. I stopped thinking about it when I remembered his birthday was coming soon too. Soon like, next week and I completely forgot about it. Melissa was the one who mentioned it since we all buy him gifts every year and she wanted my opinion on what to give him.

So here we are the next day, in the mall. Buying a gift for him. Actually gifts, I bought so many gifts for him since I only gave shitty gifts on his past birthdays thinking he threw them away or donated. Also, it was going to be his first birthday as my boyfriend and honestly, he deserves to be spoiled.

Caden once mentioned that he doesn't celebrate his birthday, I couldn't have expected anything else from him, that man works on his birthday too.

"What should I give him? You've bought like so many things, I have limited options." Melissa sighed.

"You can just buy him a chocolate bar, he'll be happy." I say.

"He's my boss's boss, I can't just give him a chocolate bar doofus." She rolls her eyes.

"Make it a chocolate box?" I suggest.

She shook her head, looking around. She bought so many things for herself but still couldn't find one gift for him. Her face suddenly lit up and her eyes widen.

"I got a perfect idea, a passport holder!" She exclaims before pulling me to another shop.

"You can buy one for your boyfriend too." I bumped my shoulder with hers once she paid for the passport holder.

"I don't have a boyfriend." She frowns. "Who are you talking about?" She asks, her face scrunched up in confusion.

"Logan?" I say, or more like ask.

"Oh right. Yeah, Logan is my boyfriend." She says before letting out an awkward laugh.

"Are you hiding something?" I ask, narrowing my eyes.

"No, absolutely not." She says, a big awkward smile still on her face.

"He's not your boyfriend, you didn't kiss, did you?" I ask. She doesn't reply which is a reply enough. "How much was the bet for?" I ask. She keeps silent.

I let out a laugh. "What an idiot I am." I say, walking away from her. I was happy about them but looks like they were just trying to make fun of me.

"I'm sorry." She says, catching up. "We thought it'll be fun seeing your reaction, there wasn't any bet. I swear. Logan said you won't believe it but I was confident that you will, I'm really sorry." She whispers the last part.

I sighed before looking at her. "It's fine."

"Really? Thank god. It's not like I'll ever date him. Ew. Talking about that was traumatic enough for me." She says, making a gagging noise.

"Shut up." I laughed. Chase is rubbing off me.

As if on cue, my phone starts ringing. Melissa is more interested than I as she pulled it out of my pocket. "Loverboy is call-all-all-ing." She sings, handing me the phone and walks forward while dancing.

"Hey." I say, answering the call.

"I'm sorry." Is the first thing he says after a silence of few seconds.

"For what?" I raise my eyebrows in confusion.

"For ignoring you." He replies.

"It's fine. Anyways, I was shopping with Melissa and you know what? They're not dating as I told you yesterday. She was just making me a fool. And oh, I bought this really cool ring, it looks like a really cute frog is wrapped on my finger. I'll send you the picture." I stop when I hear him chuckle from the other side.

"Why are you laughing?" I ask.

"Nothing, you can take a breath you know? I'm listening, not going anywhere." He says. I nod before realising he can't actually see me.

"Yeah." I reply, my cheeks heating up in embarassment. Melissa is walking backward, making funny faces at me.

"When will you come back?" I ask, shaking my head at Melissa. It's already been two days since he left, isn't that enough for the meeting?

"It'll take a couple more days. The deal isn't finalised." He replies.

"What? No. That's too much. I miss you." I blurt.

"You do?" He asks, amusement clear in his voice.

"Yeah, like so much. I thought it will be nice not seeing your annoying face everyday you know?" I say.

"I can extend my stay, you can avoid seeing my annoying face a little more?" He asks, clearly teasing me.

"Yeah, okay. I'll go out with my other boyfriends then, you can stay there." I shrug.

"Shut up. I'll come back tomorrow." He says.

"Okay. I'll be waiting. Bye now, Melissa just knocked down a little kid and is arguing with her now." I say quickly before hanging up and walking over to Melissa.

"Mel, let's go." I pull her back.

"She said I look like a vampire." Mel tells me.

"You look like a witch." She tells the little girl who has snot running down her face.

"Okay Mel, let's go before her mother listens to you and has us thrown out." I try to drag her.

"Let me see her mother. I'll tell her how to teach her kid some manners." She says, throwing daggers in the girl's direction.

"Vampire." The little kid rolls her eyes before turning around and walking away.

Mel gasps. "The audacity."

"Come on, my arm is paining from holding so many bags. I just wanna lie down." I tell her.

"Ohkay." She says, walking out with me. Completely forgetting about the little kid.
