Rosaline

I was in my room writing on the desk near the window. The once sunny weather turned to a gray, cool one. I could hear the small droplets of rain, tiny pitter patters that calmed my nerves. I had always liked rain, I felt safe thanks to it. Staying in my room, locked away from the world. The rain gave me solitude so I never had a problem with it. But enough about that, I was sitting here writing on loose paper with black ink. I wanted to write as much as I could about the novel to make sure I wouldn't forget anything. I choose the most important moments first and then the small scenes that weren't talked about a lot. I didn't want to forget a single thing. I stopped writing as I heard a knock on the door. "Lady Rosaline, may I come in?"

'Oh, it's Anna.'

"You may." The girl with hair the color of sunflowers slowly entered the room. "Lady Rosaline it's time." She said calmly while looking down. "Time for what?"

"Have you forgotten? Today is the day lady Violetta will hold a ball. You and sir Ravenden were supposed to attend." I sat there staring at her, keeping calm but truly I was frightened. "Ah.. Right, how could I have forgotten." I said with a chuckle and Anna looked at me slightly surprised.

Lady Violetta's ball, it had been mentioned in the novel around two times and each time they mentioned the same thing. I couldn't exactly remember but all I knew was that that ball would not be enjoyable. The original Rosaline had complained and basically forced Elliot into agreeing to go. Elliot had been dreading it which led to something bad happening while they were there. It was too late to tell him I didn't want to go so I'd simply just have to try and stay out of his way and hope whatever happened in the original novel wouldn't happen to me. But I didn't know if I could avoid it if I didn't even remember it. I looked through my notes that I had written earlier hoping to see if I had written anything but to my dismay there was nothing of use. I let out a sigh and looked up at Anna. "Help me get ready." I said with a tired look.

After some time had passed it was finally the time for the ball. I was wearing a lavender dress with canary colored frills. Paired with white heels and my hair was put in a high bun. The maids had questioned why I wasn't wearing any jewelry so I forced myself to put on some heavy gold earrings. Even though they were beautiful were killing my ears but I had to bear it.

The butlers and maids followed me out and Elliot was standing by the carriage not even looking at me. Only when I got closer did he look at me but it felt as though he couldn't see me. He took my hand and and kissed it gently even if he didn't mean anything I couldn't help but feel flustered. To be treated like this wasn't something I was used to. He let me get in the carriage first and then sat opposite from me. During the whole ride I didn't speak a word. The true Rosaline would've probably been speaking as much as possible and try to charm Elliot but I felt no need to do that. I merely watched the sun slowly set, a beautiful ember color covered the sky which made me think of my brother, Soris Vladenburg. I couldn't help but smile. 'Maybe I should visit him someday. I wonder how he'd react.'

Little did I know that during the whole ride Elliot had been watching me, studying my every move.
