“Are you alright?” Kazuha walked to your cushion on the floor before kneeling down on both knees.

Since you were found on the ocean and there was no other place to stay, Kazuha had told you that you could stay in his room since he had a fairly big room. Quickly wiping the lone tear that was almost dried up, you nodded.

“Just a nightmare,” you despondently replied to him.

“Close your eyes,” Kazuha told you as he lifted your head over his legs.

As you use his legs as your pillow, he slowly combed his hand through your hair and lightly hummed a lullaby that sounded vaguely familiar. Lulling you to sleep with his soothing actions and his soft hands, your eyes slowly closed as you unknowingly fell asleep.

~~~~~
Blinking from a bright light that penetrated the room, you opened your eyes only to see a body right next to you, or more specifically, a face right in front of yours.
"Kazuha?" You questioned as soon as you noticed a strand of white hair on his unblemished face.
Soon enough, you blushed after realizing what happened last night. You weren't embarrassed because of the fact that Kazuha was sleeping right in front of you; rather, you were embarrassed because you had relied on him. You hadn't relied on anyone for a good five hundred years so you couldn't help but feel like you had put a burden of some sort on Kazuha.
You couldn't help but feel guilty about this. It was a subconscious reaction that you couldn’t help especially since you had cut yourself from people for a long time.
"Mhh," Kazuha muttered as his eyes opened up.
Staring at each other, the two of you continued your momentary eye contact for a good minute. Kazuha suddenly backed away, his ears slightly pink as he muttered a sorry before leaving the room.
You sighed before shaking your head and trying to get the moment that the two of you had out of your mind. You also left the room only to see Kazuha leaning on the wall as if waiting for you to get out of the room.
“Sorry about that,” both you and Kazuha said at the same time.
You giggled a bit as your voices overlapped each other. Kazuha looked at you with a smile when he heard you giggle. To him, you seemed incredibly strong to be able to hold on after a painful loss that most likely broke you just like it broke him. He knew how much it would hurt to have someone leave you yet, you stayed strong just like him. In his eyes, you were someone strong and he was happy to see you genuinely happy like that
“It’s thanks to you that I was able to have a peaceful sleep,” you gave the white-haired boy a heart-filled smile. “You don’t have to apologize for helping me. I’m really grateful if anything.”
Kazuha looked at you with his calm red eyes, “If you have any more nightmares, I’ll help you fall asleep.”
“Thank you,” you looked towards the floor, your heart blooming with warmth from his sweet and caring words.
“I know how hard it is to lose someone,” Kazuha said as you could hear pain coming from his voice. “Someone helped me through the pain so now, I want to be like them and help you too.”
Before you could reply, Kazuha walked up the stairs to the deck of the ship, his small ponytail swinging and following the motions of his body. Feeling a tear roll down your cheek, you knelt down to the ground and hugged your knees together as more tears continued to roll down your cheeks.
This was a first. The first time that anyone had ever noticed your pain and offered to help you. You couldn’t help but feel cherished and loved after so many years of forcing yourself to be alone. Even though you knew that it would be bad to get to attached, you couldn’t help but want to stay on the Alcor a little bit more. It was so homey and warm, a complete difference from the life that you had led.
“Why,” you sobbed. “Why do I have to face such a fate?”
You knew that it was better to leave sooner than later before the wonderful people here would face an unfortunate death. They didn’t deserve it and you didn’t want the past to be repeated again.
No, you couldn’t let the fate of such precious people be tied to yours. It would be best to leave now. Jump off the boat and drift off to nowhere. But, something in your heart kept you chained to this place. You didn’t want to leave. This was the most precious thing you had.
A person had told you that they would like to help you.
This was the first time that you had ever felt genuine peace.
Even though you had grown close to people before, this was a very new attachment. It was a given, you couldn’t let them suffer because of you. It was best if you left now before you would regret your actions once again.
“My short happiness,” you stood up, wiped your tears, and placed your hand on the ship. “Goodbye, and thank you for these memories.”
Before you could do anything more, the ship suddenly jerked upwards and you fell to the ground before rolling backward and hitting your back on the wall of the ship.
“Everyone!” the loud voice of Beidou resounded through the ship. “Hold on tight, the waves are abnormally strong! We have to get out of this place quickly before the ship gets damaged! I think there’s a sea monster down there. Get all the weapons out. We have to buy some time!”
Eyes widening and hand covering your mouth, you started shaking.
Was this your fault?
