as a child, i always wondered what death would be like
whether it would hurt, or be peaceful
would i feel anything and what would be the last thing i looked at

a persons eyes, my phone, a book, a nurse. what would be the last thing my eyes would make contact with before everything went black and my vision blurred as i slowly faded away into the abyss

i always felt connected to the ocean,
felt like it would call my name between every crash that smacked against the rocks along the surface
when the tide went out each evening and when the water tugged at my ankles while pooling around my feet

when the water would soak your body, leaving each angle wet and cold
my heart would be the opposite as the waves carried my body
my heart dry and warm as the oxygen leaves my breath

drowning is the least painful way to die people say
but is it? you're fighting your lungs, practically begging to feel the oxygen enter but it doesn't
leaving your heart to slow and you chest to explode into a thousand shades of agony

you feel defeated before you feel tired and you can't help but give in into the temptation of drowning in the sea

the light that faded into her eyes
making the girl squint her emerald orbs at the uncomfortable shine that glimmered along her features

turning to her side while sinking into the comfortable chair and snuggling closer to the blanket with her blonde hair swishing around the surface of the couch

pulling her dead body up to look at the familiar room that surrounded her
the pain streaking through her head as it pounded through her skull leaving the girl to push against her temple to relieve some tension
