"You know people will probably make the connection that we're together right?" Cal questioned as she looked at herself in the pastel blue dress, which perfectly matched with Rafe's suit.

Sarah apparently had ordered it for Cal, since she assumed Rafe had asked her to come. Truthfully, Cal had forgotten that it was Midsummers tonight, mainly because she hadn't ever been invited before. Not that she'd been invited this time either.

She tried to make the excuses for Rafe such as, he knew she had a lot going on with her family and didn't want to pressure her into being his date. But she couldn't help but over think that he didn't want her there with him.

"Then let them make the connection. You two are good together. And you look good together." Sarah smiled at the girl through the mirror, placing her hands gently on Cal's shoulders before asking, "What shall we do with your hair?"

"But what if people judge me. Or him. After all he's a rich kook with a dirty pogue." Cal whispered, turning and facing Sarah.

As a child Cal always dreamed of going to midsummers. She used to have a crush on Pope and imagined him taking her to her first ever midsummers. He always promised that he would when they were little, but times had changed since then.

"You're not a dirty pogue, Callista. Stop putting yourself down like that." Sarah tucked a piece of the girls hair behind her ear, lightly caressing her cheek with her thumb. "Now, hair. Sit down."

Cal decided that it was probably not a good idea to argue with the girl, after all she was a Cameron and Cameron's always got their own way.

"What if he doesn't want me there?" Cal whispered softly as Sarah did her hair.

Sarah paused for a moment, a feeling of guilty swarming her. She wondered how her brother would react, especially since she didn't ask him if he wanted Cal there or not.

"If he doesn't, then screw him. You can be my date." Sarah attempted to put on a cheery tone, but she knew how unpredictable her brother could be.

One day Rafe could be all about the girl and confessing his love for her, the next he could want nothing to do with her. It was one of his more toxic traits.

Cal hummed in response, she enjoyed spending time with the blonde. Their friendship came naturally to her. Although she couldn't help but feel worried about how Kie would react to her knew found friendship, after all Kie and Sarah didn't get along.

"There, all finished." Sarah smiled at her work, proud that she had actually accomplished something. "Go look!"

Cal couldn't help but smile at Sarah's excitedness, so she jumped up and walked over to the mirror, taking in her full outfit, makeup and hair. Sarah had done a good job.

"It's-"

"You look beautiful, sweetheart." Rafe spoke up, making both the girls jump and turn to face him.

He had secretly been watching Sarah help Cal get ready. He hated the way that they both doubted his love for the girl, but he understood it.

A blush formed on Cal's cheeks as she looked towards the boy in the blue suit. He looked good, the colour complimented him well and made his blue eyes seem brighter.

Rafe slowly walked over to the girl, one hand gripping her waist and pulling her closer to him, the other cupping her cheek. He slowly leant down and pressed his head against hers. Smiling as he looked deep into her eyes.

"Imma head out, see you later, Callista." Sarah mumbled before quickly rushing away and leaving the couple to have some time together.

Rafe just hummed in response even though Sarah wasn't talking to him. He didn't exactly register what she had said, he was just so captivated by Cal's beauty.

He slowly leant down and connected their lips together, humming as he tasted the cherry flavoured lipgloss on her lips. He wanted to pull at her hair to pull her closer, but he didn't want to ruin it, so instead he gripped her waist tighter, making her let go of a whimper.

He knew that she was probably still mad at him, so he didn't want to rush anything. Instead he tried to think of everything that he could in order to make it up to her.

Cal pulled away and looked up to Rafe through her lashes. Rafe groaned, running his hand over his face at how submissive she looked. He ran his thumb along her bottom lip, his eyes darkening as he looked down at her.

"You gonna walk out with me, sweetheart?" Rafe questioned, the corners of his lips curling upwards ever so slightly.

The red head nodded with a smile, all she wanted was for Rafe to show her off and be proud of her. She wanted to be on his arm and kiss him in front of everyone without fear.

"That's my girl." He whispered softly, pressing his lips against hers once again. "Have I told you how beautiful you look yet?"

"You have, and might I add, you don't look too bad yourself." Cal chuckled, fixing his bow tie that had tilted to one side ever so slightly.

She just wanted to forget everything that happened and move on. Truthfully, she was blinded by the love she had for Rafe. Despite the consequences of his actions, she forgave him. There wasn't anything in the world that Cal wouldn't forgive Rafe for.

"You're a flirt, Callista Maybank." Rafe scrunched his  nose up slightly as he spoke, something that Cal found extremely adorable.

"I'm your flirt." She whispered back with a hearty chuckle.

Rafe cleared his throat, the way she said she was his, it did something to him. It made his heart skip a beat and his palms become sweaty. He couldn't let it show how flustered she just made him, so instead he pretended to be all cocky about the fact that she belonged to him by saying,

"Damn right."
