Late at night,
When the moon is at it's highest,
And stars shine bright,
In their place in the heavens,
Creatures come out to play,
Which have long been forgotten.

Strange shadows outside your window,
Maybe some footsteps in the hall.
And I mourn the poor soul,
Unto whom this infortune shall befall.

They go by many names,
But one in specific,
Accurately describes these creatures.
And it makes me quite livid,
To think that the monsters in my imagination,
Could make my nightmares seem so
vivid.

I call them creepy crawlers,
For that is the purpose for which they were created.
To haunt your mind,
And soon your sanity would be deflated.

Their mind games will no doubt,
drive you up a wall.
No rest for the weary they say,
For their irresistible charms will be your downfall.
And don't you dare challenge them,
Because, in truth, no-one likes a know-it-all.

Though that's not their true appearance,
They are truly gruesome by nature.
But things are not always what they seem.
And in exchange for your soul,
What would you wager?
