Chapter 7: Get Along With Me

After restarting everything and doing everything exactly the same, I breath a sigh of relief, as I make sure to walk to the right of the hallway.

I quickly save before anything else dumb popped up.

[incoming message!]

Lord Xarrus took note of the inheritor's respect for the rules!

Shut up!

I don't care, old man!

I'm really going to get stuck with a troublesome resident, huh...

Walking, I stop as I see the nurse's office. Just in case, I knock on the door before entering. Another message pops up like before, but I close it without looking. I've got other things to do than look at his random ramblings.

Entering, the nurse turned toward me.

She's a really nice lady, from my memory. She would always help patch me up after I got beat up by that sad excuse for a dad, back at home.

Looking at me, she had a face of pity and worry.

Although I lied everyday, and told others that my injuries were from playing around too roughly, she was one fo the few people who realized something was wrong. As a nurse, maybe she realized that there are some bruises that can't be caused by just playing around.

However, even now, I appreciate her never trying to press the issue. I don't really want to explain it in this life, either. Some might think she was irresponsible, but she really helped me out by never telling.

"Hideki, you're hurt again? Your previous injuries haven't even healed yet... Come, sit down, I'll check your cheek, and then the other marks..."

I did as she said, and sat in the small chair in front of her. Taking off the bandage I had on my cheek, she checked to make sure the swelling wasn't too bad. I could hear her mumbling some things under her breath, but I didn't pay any mind.

I'm pretty sure that my cheek was already starting to get discolored by the time I had looked at it this morning. It's probably a lot worse now. I think I got my answer when I saw the face she was making.

"I'll disinfect it, since you have a cut on your cheek. Make sure you come here whenever you get injured, okay?"

I nod my head as she got the bottle of disinfectant out. I remembered this strong alcoholic smell vividly, even when I grew up and escaped that place.

Putting some of it onto a piece of cotton, she dabbed some onto my chee—ow! That hurts so fucking much! How infected was this cut?!

I keep my own cries in my head, as I endured it.

Nurse! Don't look at me with such pitiful eyes! I'm pitying myself enough, already!

...

As I got the rest of my injuries checked out, I got some new clean bandages and compresses put on.

I should try my best to avoid that man the best I can for a while. I'll probably get hit just being in the same room as him, anyway.

"Thank you, Nurse! I'll go back to class now. Break is about to end soon."

She sighed, probably because of my whole demeanor. I can't help it though. I've experienced all of this already, and even worse things.

"Alright. Make sure to change the bandages before you go to sleep, okay?"

"Yes!"

I wanted to leave quickly, since I might still be able to make it in time for lunch! I didn't get to eat anything yesterday, and I've been starving! However, I guess my stomach had to remind me again, as it made rumbling noises.

Ugh... how embarrassing... I can feel my own ears growing red...

The Nurse, who obviously heard, smiled gently like usual before handing me a snack.

"Here. In case lunch ends before you get back. Make sure you eat something healthy later though, okay?"

Sweet! Thank you! You're the best!

Leaving, I waved her goodbye.

Making sure I was following all the rules the school set out, I safely made it back to my classroom. Though, I had to delete a ton of messages sent by that old geezer.

If you're so interested in me, just give me your powers already! Stingy old man!

Thank god for the nurse and my own loud stomach, since they stopped serving lunch long ago. As I returned to my seat, I began to eat the snack I got.

Guess this'll be my breakfast, lunch, and dinner today.

I should make sure to eat lunch before seeing the nurse tomorrow.

"Yuuma! How did you get that!"

Hanami looked at me with her usual angry face. Man, this girl always nitpicks everything I do...

"The nurse?"

Looking at her face, I can already feel the lecture coming on about how it's not healthy to not eat a proper lunch or something like that... let's change the topic quickly!

However, just before I could, the door to the class opened and a familiar white-haired boy walked in.

Miyahara Izumi?! Why're you here?!

I froze when I saw him, and I didn't even move an inch when he approached me.

Wait! I knew that I said I was going to try a get along with him, but I wasn't ready for it yet!

He's just a 9-year-old right now!

All I have to do is just act nice and befriend him!

"What's a 4th grader doing here?? You shouldn't be here. You're supposed to be in your own classroom."

HANAMI!!

Why're you actively messing up my plans?! That sounded super rude! Should I just cut off our friendship right now?!

I suddenly got a random alert!

Lord Xarrus finds Hanami's actions and penchant for the rules as admirable.

However, luckily, it doesn't seem like Izumi seemed too bothered by what Hanami said! Though, it was more like he ignored her...

"I found you! I asked around, but is your name Hideki Yuuma?"

I suddenly got chills, hearing how he addressed me. It reminded me of all those other times...

PTSD is scary~

"Y-yeah? Did you need me?"

Wait... did I actually luck out?

Could it be one of those situations where he's become attached to me, since I saved him from a bully?! Will it be that easy!?

"I wanted to ask you to not do that again."

Ah. Wait. Nope. I can see it obviously from the face he's making.

Why can't my life just be easy for once?! Did I use all my luck in my past life?!

Anyway, he continued, but I don't think this guy knows anything about being cute... his appearance may look cute, but his actions are the exact opposite...

"I was the one that started it, so it is not your responsibility to help me. I won't be able to repay you, otherwise."

What kind of child acts like this?

I can kind of already see his future personality right now...

However, there's no way this is gonna stop me! I've already decided it! I'm going to use you for my future!
