-Couple of days later-

Psyche had gotten used to the voices and her husband’s touches. The servants would help her, and her husband would be gentle and handle her with great care. She would sleep with her husband, and although she couldn’t see him, she could feel him, and she didn’t feel as lonely. But after a long night’s rest, he would leave right away. He had told her that he cannot stay for long. He never told her why, but she had just accepted it. She didn’t question his identity either, as he had warned her about the dangers that would come if she would ever truly see him. She had grown accustomed to not seeing anyone, but feeling and hearing them, so it didn’t truly matter to her. He was a sweet and gentle lover, something that she had longed for.

She walked around the entrance, admiring the flowers and sky. The servants were chatting away while she smelled the peonies. Psyche had learned all her servants’ names. The one that would help her the most was Despina. She had made sure that Psyche’s needs were tended to.

When Psyche was walking around, and her servants right behind her, she heard a wail. It seemed distant and far, but this worried Psyche.

“Despina? Do you hear that as well?”

“Yes, my lady. It seems like it is far away, though, so we must stay away.”

“Psyche! Please, come back! It is me, Aglaura! Please! Come back to your sisters! To your family!”

Psyche felt her heart race, her eyes started to tear up, and her hands started trembling. “Aglaura?” Psyche whispered longingly. “Despina, it’s my sister!” Psyche put her hand over her heart and smiled. “It’s my sister! I must see her now!”

“My lady, please, calm down!” Despina was desperate to calm down Psyche, but she had no control over the princess.

“I’m here, sister! I’m here! Please don’t cry!” Psyche yelled with all her heart, but her sister didn’t hear her. She kept crying, not knowing Psyche had called her. “Why can’t she hear me, Despina?”

“Because you are too far away, my lady. Come, let us go inside.” Despina grabbed Psyche by the hand and gently guided her inside. Psyche didn’t know what to feel. She was so close to her sister yet so far.

That night, during dinner, Psyche was picking at her food. She was only thinking about her sister’s cries, how they sounded sad, desperate. Eros noticed this and gently put his hand over Psyche’s hand.

“What is wrong, my dear? What is causing you so much distress?”

Psyche was hesitant to tell her husband about what happened, but he gave her no reason not to trust him. “My sister, I heard her. She was crying and screaming my name. Despina told me that I couldn’t go to her. It made me feel… lonely.”

Eros was silent, not knowing what to say. He had never been separated from his family, so he didn’t understand how Psyche felt, but he did get an understanding of how he might have felt if he were in the same situation. Marrying a stranger and not being able to see anyone, he might have gone crazy. Eros was surprised that Psyche hadn’t tried to run away, but he was grateful that she had stayed.

“Husband? I was wondering, if, um, if I could see my sisters again?” She looked a little nervous, her voice was a bit shaky.

Eros felt his heart hurt, but he couldn’t let her see them. It was too much of a risk. “I’m sorry, Psyche.”

Psyche’s heart dropped, falling into a million pieces. “But, you, you said you would tend to my needs! My need is to see my sisters!”

Eros stayed silent.

Psyche looked down at her lap and felt her tears coming out. ‘What will I do now? My sisters think I’m dead!’ she thought. She had started crying, her heart had never hurt so much before.

Eros couldn’t bear to see Psyche depressed. “I’ll think about it,” he finally said.

Psyche’s heart didn’t hurt as much anymore. Her last tiny glimmer of hope to see her sisters, oh how she hoped her husband would say yes. She smiled lightly, already thinking about her sisters’ arrival.

-That Night-

Psyche had gotten ready for bed, her husband already sleeping away. She sat next to him and reached her hand out to feel him. Psyche felt a bit sad not being able to see him, but she closed her eyes and felt him, his skin soft and his hair soft and curly. She smiled to herself, having an image of her husband in her head. She imagined someone handsome, a contagious smile, just like his laugh, and his hair being dark and curly. She wasn't sure if he actually looked like that, but she liked to imagine.

"My dear," Eros said groggily. "Are you going to sleep, or are you going to continue touching my hair?"

Psyche blushed and pulled her hand away from his hair. "I'm sorry! I just love touching your hair."

Eros laughed and grabbed Psyche's hand, putting her hand on his face. "It's ok. I love it when you touch my hair. It feels nice."

Psyche smiled and closed her eyes. She felt his face, giving her more ideas on how his face looked.

Eros was admiring Psyche's beauty, her eyes (when they were open) were a deep hazel color, and her lips were soft. Her hair straight and black, and her skin was a soft brown. She was gorgeous, incomparable to anyone.

"Psyche, what are you doing?" Eros laughed. Psyche was touching his face all over, feeling his nose and mouth.

"I'm just trying to feel how you look!"

"Feel?"

"Yeah! Since I can't see you, I'm trying to imagine your face. You feel very handsome so far," Psyche smiled.

Eros smiled as well and put his hand on Psyche's cheek. "And you're beautiful."

Psyche blushed and kissed Eros on the forehead. They have kissed before, but that was all they have done. Nothing more. But Eros was getting a bit impatient. He wanted to join her and be one together. But he was afraid Psyche wouldn't like it. Or worse, hate him. But he wanted to ask her, just in case she changed her mind.

"Um, Psyche?"

She hummed in response, still playing with her husband's hair.

"Would you like to do it?" Eros asked curiously.

Psyche stayed silent, thinking of what to say. She wanted to do it, but she was afraid she would displease him.

"I do, but what if you hate me after it? What if I don't satisfy you?"

Eros chuckled. "Psyche, you must know that I would never hate you, especially for that. And I doubt you wouldn't satisfy me. But the point is that we are both satisfied, our bodies becoming one, and our show of love towards each other."

Psyche smiled. She felt relieved and understood what Eros had meant.

That night was the first night they had done it. Where they joined together and loved each other with their bodies. Psyche felt so loved, feeling his body and his breath against her, it all sent shivers down her spine.

Eros had made sure to be gentle with her, making sure that she was ok. They had lasted a while, but they finally stopped.

"I love you," they both whispered.
