"Alejandro?"

I acknowledged my surprise, and he grinned back.

"Doctor Camila, this is Mr. Huxley, the owner of the hospital," Elina said, and I nodded and tried to cover my emotions and clasped my palms.

"Nice to meet you," he said, and reached out to shake my hand, and I gave him the "I'm going to murder you" look.

"Nice to meet you as well," I said, shaking his hand firmly, but it refused to budge on him.

"Well, then, Nurse Elina, we'll meet you all at the restaurant, and I'll take care of the rest," he adds, and Elina nods and bows as she walks away. At the very least, he changed his controlling and frigid demeanor...

I attempted to walk away from him swiftly, but he abruptly grabbed my hand and drew me towards his side.

"Everyone meet Camila, a new doctor here at our hospital, "he says to the people who are speaking, and they all glance at me, and I try to smile.

"Nice to meet you, sweetie," an elderly woman in a large hat said as she approached me and shook my hand.

"Doctor Camila, these are the members of the hospital's board of directors," he adds, and everyone greets me. They're quite nice.

"Well, then, we'll all meet at the restaurant, and we'll get going now, everyone," Alejandro said, as he waved farewell to them.

He practically dragged me out of the hospital and into his car by the waist, and I thought I was going to faint out when we got inside.

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I exclaimed, and he grinned, leaving me speechless.

"Did you really just purchase another hospital for me?!?" I exclaimed, and he abruptly grasped my cheek.

It was done gently, so that it didn't hurt.

"Next time, love, don't expect me to let you go so easily; now you're trapped with me, and I owned the hospital before you even got in; you simply fell right into my arms," he added, putting his hand on my waist, and I groaned as I moved away from him.

"To the restaurant venue, Dante," he says, and Dante begins driving; I grumble as I notice Alejandro staring at me.

I groaned and scowled at him as I looked out the window. This is so humiliating, driving in the same car with my ex-lover. Well, technically we were still husband and wife, but that doesn't matter since I despise him!

"I missed you," Alejandro remarked unexpectedly, and I glanced at him. He smiled back; he smiles a lot these days. That's strange.

I ignored him until I received a text. I checked my phone and noticed it was Miss Caroline, so I glanced at the text and read it.

"Michael is asleep now, he has stopped crying, he has just eaten, so don't worry dear."

As I received her text, a grin emerged on my lips: "At least I have a newborn boy at home to relieve my tension." I suppose this motherly sensation is wonderful and relaxing...

"Who are you texting?" a voice asks, jolting me out of my euphoria.

I locked my gaze on him. I told him, "None of your business," and he snorted.

He murmured into my ear, "Never forget I'm still your husband, my lovely wife," and I simply rolled my eyes.

I dashed to the other side, and he suddenly drew me into his side by laying his hand on my waist and pulling me in close.

"Let me go, Alejandro," I told him shocked by his actions.

"Let me hold you for a moment," he says, and I just stare at him. His words touched my heart. Did he really miss me? ...

His head rests on my hair, and his arms envelop my waist. He has a distinctive aroma and is warm to the touch...

Camila, why are you acting like this?

"Mr. Huxley, we've arrived," Dante said, and Alejandro nodded and backed away from me. I finally breathed out as he did.

Dante lifted open the door for us, and Alejandro took my hand and guided me out; once we were out, I yanked his hand away and straightened my clothes.

When we entered, I noticed that everyone was already there.

When I tried to rush to the nurse's station, Alejandro abruptly grabbed my hand.

With a serious Italian accent, Alejandro whispered into my ear, "You are sitting with me. Their table is filled."

I sighed, and Elina waved and winked at me, pointing to Alejandro. I stared at her, frowned, and turned around to sit beside Alejandro.

The waiter inquired, "Ma'am, what would you like to order?" I looked at the menu.

I replied, "shrimp ravioli," and she nodded and took my order.

Alejandro said, "I'll have the steak," and the server nodded and wrote it down before departing.

The server approached us and was about to pour wine into our glasses when Alejandro intervened.

"No liquor, only iced tea," he continues, and I can't help but smile at his words; he remembered everything I thought he had forgotten.

"Okay, sir, I'm very sorry. I should've asked," the waiter apologized, and Alejandro simply nodded. I smiled as I glanced down.

Camila, Okay, let's get this straight. there is a barrier in your heart now. Now it's your job to protect it.

"How have you been?" Alejandro said as he sipped his water and turned to face me, as I continued to fidget with my fingers.

"Fine, I suppose," I said as he pressed his palm into mine. I looked at him, and the next thing he did surprised me...

"Answer me when I talk to you, "he kissed me and whispered.
