The rest of the holidays flew by and suddenly Maria and Regulus are back, strolling through Kings Cross Station with their hands intertwined between them — their other hands controlling the trolleys in front of them containing their trunks and Tiger's crate. Regulus' face isn't as battered anymore, the cut on his cheekbone now looking more like a paper cut and the purple bruise on his cheek had faded to a pale green colour.

"What do you reckon will be on our N.E.W.T's this year?" Maria says to Regulus who sighs in thought, rolling his eyes at boys giving sneaky looks at his girlfriend beside him.

"Probably a lot to do with defensive spells and techniques." Regulus says slowly. "The Ministry will want us to know our stuff before we leave."

Maria hums in agreement, "I hope the potions is easy, I can't bear blowing up another one. Where did Stan say he and Alyssa would meet us?"

"Er—they said something about a café but I don't really think they understand there's a few of those." Regulus sighs, looking around and Maria squeezes his hand.

"Ooh—they're in there!" Maria says excitedly, Regulus smiling and the two of them stroll over to the blonde duo who have coffee in their hands, their trolleys beside their seats.

"Oh my god! You look terrible—"

"Stanley!"

"What happened to your face, mate?" Stanley questions with furrowed brows and Regulus sits beside him, Maria sitting opposite next to Alyssa.

"It's a very long story." Regulus sighs, but obviously Stanley Harper did not just leave it at that. Once the couple had told him the story about the Minister's New Year Ball, he had almost talked their ears off. And now, as they stroll down the aisle between the compartments, Stanley is still blabbering about how incredible it is that the marauders and Regulus 'joined forces' to kick the shit out of Lucius and his goons.

"I mean—Snape's just lucky he wasn't there!" Stan exclaims as Alyssa shoved him to sit down on the green cushioned seat. "You would've battered him—"

"Stan, we get it." Regulus sighs, slouching into the seat opposite Stan and Alyssa, Maria following his footsteps and sitting sideways on the seat, her back resting against the window looking out into the aisle of the train, her legs resting across Regulus' lap, his hands instantly gripping them, his thumb caressing her skin through the fabric of her jeans.

"This is the last time we'll do this." Alyssa says softly yet there's a certain sadness to her voice that makes them all stare at the floor for a few seconds.

Maria hadn't though of that. The number of memories she's made on this train over the seven years range from in her first year, sobbing in Alice and Marlene's arms when Snape had called her a 'blood-traitor' and threw a jinx at the unaware eleven year old causing a gash on her forehead. To sitting with Regulus, her head on his shoulder and his arm around her waist as they left the school to go on their holiday into Europe.
