"Alright you win," Sam tells me with a shake of his head. "I don't know how you did it but you were right.
Yesterday, Sally did what I expected her to do and kept looking over her shoulder to make sure Sam was still in the classroom, afraid he would disappear the second she looked away and it wasn't time for him to go yet. She was interacting with her friends but I could see her start to panic and look back to make sure Sam is still present since the bell hadn't rung yet, getting a thumbs up before she would turn around and try to focus on whatever conversation she and her friends were holding.
I watched with an amused smile, the parents filing out once the early bell rings, Sally spinning around so fast I was afraid she had whiplash. Sam gave her a smile and a wave. Sally happily waved back before turning around to her friends once he's officially left. I jump into the lesson after role call, happy everyone is enjoying their time with me.

Once we're officially at the end of the week on day five Sally comes in holding Sam's hand like she always did, letting it go so she could hang up her backpack before grabbing his hand and tugging on it. Same kneels down and Sally presses a kiss to his cheek before running off to greet her friends, the five of them chatting happily about various things. I watch out of the corner of my eyes as I greet everyone else, Sam looking totally lost when Sally doesn't even look back to see if he was still there. Instead she's giggling and laughing away with her friends, all of them discussing things little kids discussed while everyone gets settled. Once everyone is present I head over to Sam."I told you Sam," I tell him with a laugh. "I've been doing this for a couple years. I've watched it all."
"I didn't think you'd be right but here we are. It's not that I'm not happy it's just.....," He trails off, his grey eyes looking over at Sally.
"You didn't expect her to become so independent so fast. I get it. As I watch them grow and leave, learning new and advanced things, it pulls at my heart. It's not that you're not happy for them, it's more a fact that you just miss them dearly. Watching them grow up is the greatest honor but also the greatest heart break," I tell him gently.
"You have kids?" Sam asks in surprise.
"No......well, kind of? I know they're not mine but I kinda feel like all my students are my kids in a way. Their parents are trusting me with their well-being and to teach them so they can get ahead in this world. It's a pretty big responsibility," I explain with a soft laugh.
"I'm glad you feel that way. Makes me feel like my daughter is in even safer hands," He tells me gently. "Still doesn't make it any easier."
"I know what you mean," I tell him. "But it's good for them at the same time. I promise she's in good hands."

Sam's Pov
I couldn't believe it but Y/N was right, Sally couldn't stop talking about how excited she was to go to school and see her teacher again. It had only been five days and Sally was enjoying her time so much! Her fear of humans wasn't completely gone but she could see there was still good in the world. Sally would constantly rave about her teacher and now the entire mansion knew the name Y/N L/N. I had made sure to inform everyone she was strictly off limits and should anything happen I would be the one to take care of it. Tch, no one messed with or hurt my little girl and get away either it.
Sally loved telling me about her day and everything she was learning when it came to being 'normal' or 'human' again. She knew plenty but the fact she got to do things with other kids about her age has really boosted her confidence. I noticed her control on her powers is better and she's not getting dropping dead from exhaustion for using too much energy. It wasn't that Sally didn't get taught things in the mansion, in fact she knew more than any kid her age, it was just that she was still growing up and every growing kid needed to experience that same things as kids their age. No matter how much I pushed for my residents to interact they were still adults/teenagers and Sally was just a little girl.
Thankfully, the whole school thing has been good for her. The only problem is when it has to end. I supposed I could take her to another school but she probably wasn't going to like any others based on how much she's liked Miss L/N. She's a poltergeist and as far as I know they don't really age. It was a surprise when I found her because usually when they're so young they age up but she stayed as her eight year old self. He hoped she would she up so she can experience even more of the world outside of the mansion but it was difficult when she stayed so little. I wonder what would happen when I have to take her away from Y/N? She was already so attached.....
My mind wanders to the question Sally had asked the other day, having been pondering the question. I tried to tell myself it was just because she was Sally's teacher and made her happy, but I'd never admit that even when Sally wasn't chatting excitedly about her teacher the young woman still weighed heavily on my mind. Would I date Y/N? Every time I think about it I want so bad to just say yes, but I can't date her. It's utterly impossible! She's a mortal and I'm....well, I'm the mythical being Slenderman in disguise. I had decided that Sally needed to spend some time with kids her own age so I started her in school, and now I almost don't know what to do with myself when she's at school. I know she's safe and happy but I still worry for her and anything that could possibly happen. What if she gets tired and can't stay in her human form?! What if she gets so mad she can't control her powers?! I hated the ideas of what could happen but I couldn't take away her happiness either!
Now that she's in school I have all the free time in the world when it came to managing the mansion and its residents, and it wasn't that I wasn't grateful! No, I was ecstatic that Sally was getting the chance to be a kid again. She really does love this school and she loves Ms. L/N. Neither of us are a fan of some of the other teachers who occasionally come in for supplies and what not. Sally said they just felt off to her. They weren't malicious but she mentioned they were constantly rude to Y/N which she hated and was mad she couldn't do anything about it without getting caught.
I watch as Sally chats with the other kids while Ms. L/N organizes her items for the day, hanging a few backpacks that had been discarded on the floor during the kids' excitement. The way she moves is so simple, so perfect, so beautiful. Ugh, stop it Slender. She's a human and you're a monster, she would never like something you. Besides, she likes you as a human not as a monster! She would flip if she knew the truth about what we are, I would bet some serious money on it.
"Sam?" Y/N calls out, causing me to jump in surprise. When did she get here?!
"Yes Y/N? I....I...mean Miss L/N?" I ask, snapping back to reality as I mentally scold myself for using her first name.
"I asked if you were coming to the school fair in a couple weeks?" She asks again with a sweet smile.
"Oh, of course. You kidding? Sally keeps pestering me and saying I should learn how to control time so it can come faster but then she wants me to stop it so it lasts a long time," I say tell her with a laugh.
"That's cute. You still need me to babysit her this afternoon?" She asks me.
"Please. Her brother will be by to pick her up," I tell her.
"Alright I'll see you Monday," She smiles, greeting a few other parents before heading into to her desk to begin her lessons.
I take one last look at Sally before I take my leave, a soft sigh leaving my lips. I close the door behind me since I'm the last one out and make my way down the hall, trying to chase away any thoughts of Y/N. Get it together Slender. She was a human and you hated humans. She'd react just like everyone else if she learned the truth and he knew it! I just needed to focus on my mansion and everyone in it. That was more important than wondering us some human liked me.
