Amber looked back at the door she'd walked through and then headed down the hallway. She noticed that as she walked, she didn't make any noise. The old boards of her home didn't have those same squeaks when she stepped. For that matter, there was no feeling of stepping on anything. Thank goodness there was no basement here, or she'd likely fall through the floor!

No one else was up, but that wasn't overly surprising. Nova was in her little bedroom that Amber had converted for her and Mabel had her own room and so did Fudd. Their rooms were still basic because they hadn't done much decorating in their own rooms yet. Nova was unsure of herself and still felt self conscious asking for anything. After her health gets better, Amber is going to start giving her more chores and then give her some of her own money so she can buy what she wants. She's also a bit worried about Fortis since she hasn't seen the girl since she sent her on that mission. Amber has a room cleaned up and ready for her when she comes back though.

There wasn't much to see or do with everyone sleeping and so, Amber decided that it might be fun to head into town. The night market should be in full swing at this time. She wondered if she would still feel fully rested in the morning. Her body was actually sleeping right now, wasn't it?

Amber walked through the living room and up to the front door. An excited grin spread across her face while she thought about all of the fun she might have. After all, who hadn't wanted to try out being invisible at one point or another in their life?

She closed her eyes again, because stepping through solid objects was disconcerting and quickly stepped through the door. The feeling of the wind sliding against her body had never felt so strange before as it glided across her skin. She slowly opened her eyes and was confused about what she saw at first. There was a pine branch stuck through her hand. It definitely didn't hurt, so her mind was having a difficult time coming to terms with what she was seeing.

After another moment, the tree branch was gone and it was replaced by another one that was thinner than the first. This branch also didn't hurt. She blinked a few times in confusion and then closed her eyes again. When she opened her eyes again, she saw the top of a pine tree directly in front of her. Someone had apparently cut down the pine tree that had been growing in front of her home.

A strong gust of wind came up behind her and spun her around. What was the ground became the sky and what was the sky became the ground. Over and over her world spun around. She felt sick spinning around, but once she stopped, she certainly didn't feel any better. It was at this moment that her mind registered that the ground was much further away from her feet than it ought to be. Then she heard an ear piercing scream which she frowned about and quickly covered her ears while looking for the perpetrator. She didn't find anyone looking up at her, but she did see a group of maids kicking a little boy who was laying down on the ground.

"Hey! What do you think you're doing to that kid?" Amber yelled.

The group of women didn't stop and didn't even acknowledge that anyone had yelled at them. This was when Amber realized that she had been the source of the screaming all along. It was clear that the maids couldn't hear her yelling at them. While part of her heart broke seeing the little boy fainting and bleeding out on the ground, there was nothing she could do about it.

Her more immediate problem was that she was currently floating away. The wind was acting like it had found a new toy and treating her like a kite. She had absolutely no control over where she went or if in fact she would ever find a way to get down again.

While other people may find this cloudless night sky filled with twinkling stars breathtaking. Watching the tops of the trees far below and the mountains in the distance, others may find the scenery beautiful. Perhaps the feeling of drifting aimlessly on the breeze may be soothing to some. Amber was not one of those people whose greatest desire was to be able to fly. Her whole body was shaking in fear because she was horribly afraid of heights.

She felt hot and cold flashes wrack her body along with the shaking while her body started gagging and her jaw ached. She wanted to puke so badly, but couldn't. She had no working stomach at this moment after all.

She curled her knees up to her chin and hugged her legs, hiding her face in her knees and closing her eyes. "Just a dream. This is just a horrible dream. There's nothing to fear here," she mumbled to herself while floating away towards the distant mountains.

After a while, she opened her eyes and saw that the town looked quite a bit smaller now. She drifted off farther away from the warmth of the place she had been calling home and the family she had created for herself there. Her heart hurt thinking that she may never see them again. It was then that she realized that she did actually care a great deal for them. If she ever managed to get back, she vowed that she would be better to them and more honest about her feelings. She wasn't ready to open her heart up to others easily, but for them, perhaps she could.
