Louis was going to go on a date.

"Harry Styles is literally no one!" Louis ranted loudly, Lottie on speaker phone as he paced his room.

"Well, actually, he has over 20 million followers on Instagram, I wouldn't call him no one exactly." Lottie mentioned.

"Not the point!" Louis snapped, "We've been split up for five years! Five!"

Louis either sounded on the edge of hysteria or the edge of inventing the lightbulb.

Maybe both.

"And whether he regrets his decision or not, is not my problem!" Louis declared, "My sister, here is the plan. I have," Louis paused dramatically, "a date!"

Lottie gasped, playing into Louis' mellow dramatics.

"A date! You haven't been on one of those in- well I can't even remember!" Lottie said exasperatedly.

"Shut up. His name is David, and I will pursue a happy life with him!" Louis explained, "Now, my black button up, or just the grey jumper?"

"Okay, first off, do not mention the 'pursuing a happy life' thing, and second off, the jumper. It's your first date, not your wedding day."

"Right, right, this is good stuff. I should be writing this down- can you believe Niall and Liam thought I was joking when I said I have a date?!"

"I can believe it alright." Lottie mumbled, "Look Louis. I have a test to study for. You go out there and you pursue your future husband, and like, good luck and all, good bye."

"Lottie waait-"

The line went dead.

"Well then. I've got this. I mean, look at me. I'm a stud. A stud who talks to himself."

"No, no, I'd say you're a stud too." Liam said from Louis' doorway.

Louis let out a shrill scream.

"Liam! Don't you have a shop to run or something?!" Louis squawked.

"I had to see my son off on his first date." Liam explained, "You didn't think I would miss this milestone?!"

"Oi fuck off, I've been on plenty of dates." Louis mumbled, smoothing out his jumper.

"I wouldn't exactly call those dates. So no chance that you're going on a date with Harry Styles, who is enamored with you and just invited us to another party?" Now Niall appeared in the doorway as well.

"I am not going on a date with- personally?"

"What?"

"Did he invite us to a party in person, I mean."

"Oh. No, we just got the same invitations as usual. First December, a gala this time though."

Louis huffed, "Well, I'm off to my date. If I see you two stalking me, I will make sure to never go on a date again, so choose what you decide to do wisely."

David was a pleasurable guy.

He was a corp shark, made good money, easy on the eyes, and had a good sense of humor.

Talked a bit about what it's like to be at the top and be gay. Surprisingly, not so bad. Not perfect, definitely ten times more questions are asked about his personal life than with others, but still.

He had two sisters and a brother, and a roommate whom he lived with because he was secretly afraid of living alone.

Surprisingly, he didn't seem to care that Louis was a waiter full time. After all, they were only a few years out of uni, and they have their whole lives in front of them.
