"The judges are ready for you."

I breathed in deeply and gripped my microphone like it was keeping me from falling off a cliff.

I was here.

I was ready.

I slowly walked up to the stage and blazing lights hit my face. The crowd cheered and immediately my nerves disappeared.

"Hello," said Austin Graham, famous country singer.

"Hi." I said cheerfully.

"How old are you, sweetie?" Asked Britney Sean, former pop star.

"I just turned sixteen."

"Great," continued Simon Dohn, famous music producer, "what's your name?"

"My name is Marley Ryan."

"Nice," said Austin, "and what will you sing for us today?"

"I'm going to sing 'Saving All My Love For You', by Whitney Houston."

"Damn, you prepared this song?" Asked Simon.

"Yes, I did." I said, smiling.

"Well, best of luck."

I closed my eyes and imagined myself in my room. This wasn't different from the hundreds of times I had sang this in my room. I smiled.

"A few stolen moments, is all that we share,
You've got your family, and they need you there,
Though I've tried to resist, being last on your list,
But no other man's gonna do,
So, I'm saving all my love for you..."

The rest was simply magic.

I sang the song like I never had before.

After I belted the last note, all three judges stood up.

This was just overwhelming.

I brought my hands to my mouth and tried to resist the tears.

"Marley!" Screamed Austin, "who knew that those notes would come out of a sixteen year old? Hot damn!"

I laughed, "thank you!"

"It is a straight damn yes from me!" He continued.

"I second that!" Screamed Britney.

"You were the best audition I've heard in this entire competition, it's a yes!"

~~~~~
Today, was 'meet and greet' day. All of the competitors that made it past the first round got to socialize.
I still couldn't believe that I made it past the first round, with three yeses!
I was sitting in a corner, reading 'Paper Towns', by John Green.
I wasn't very good at socializing as I hoped I'd be.
I sighed and continued my reading.
"Seriously?" I looked up to see a boy with a SnapBack and insanely good taste in fashion.
"Sorry?" I said while closing my book.
He sat down next to me, "You can't be reading on meet and greet."
I blushed, why am I so nervous?
"I'm Dana." He said while extending his hand.
"Marley." I said while gripping his hand firmly and shaking it.
"I saw your audition, by the way, it played in the screen while I was in the waiting room."
"God, was it awful?"
"You're joking, right?" He said while laughing, "it was the best effing audition in The Microphone history!" He screamed.
"Shh," I said while laughing, "keep it down."
"Well, it's true."
Out of a sudden, some camera men approached us. "Keep talking like we're not here."
"Sure," said Dana.
"So, where are you from?" I asked, not knowing what to really say.
"Pittsburgh, you?"
"Massachusetts."
"Damn, the land of snow?"
I chuckled, "yeah, in winter it's the land of snow."
"Well, Pittsburgh is the land of steaks."
"Really?" I asked, confused.
"Well, at least my house is."
I laughed.
"Thank you, that's all we need," said a camera man, then left.
"That's gonna be hard to get used to." I said.
"Don't worry. I'll be with you, and I always know what to say."
"Woah, woah, calm down, dude," I said, "I'm pretty smooth too."
"In what world?" He said while laughing.
I playfully pushed him, "Rude."
"Smooth." He corrected while laughing.
"I hate you."
He acted hurt, "I thought we were friends."
I chuckled, "You thought wrong."
"Listen up!" Screamed Austin as he appeared with the rest of the judges.
"The next round, is singing in pairs!" Screamed Simon.
"Here are the pairs:" Continued Britney.
Thousand of names were said and I still hadn't heard my name.
Or Dana's.
Then, Britney finally said: "Marley Ryan and Dana Vaughns."
"Is your last name Ryan?" He asked.
"I was about to ask you the same thing, yeah, I'm Marley Ryan."
"It's going to be a pleasure singing with you, Marley Ryan."
"Likewise, Dana Vaughns."
