Chapter 29 - One Kiss

Zach: "I'm glad you had fun tonight... So, thanks..."

Y/N: "Thank you, too..."

He walks off leaving you at your doorstep. You stand outside for a bit, your thoughts a little muddled. As you're about to enter, you hear someone call out to you.

Kiri: "Oh, hey L/N! Didn't expect to see you here!"

Kirishima jogs up to you and stops by your mailbox.

Y/N: "But, I live here..."

Kiri: "Ah! Yes! Ahem! Of course you do! Anyway! Uh... how was your... date...?"

Y/N: "Oh! It went pretty well... Sorry again about how he was acting to you earlier... He's pretty nice once you get to know him."

Kiri: "Well, I'm glad you had a good time! How was the tea?"

Y/N: "Oh, the tea was great!"

You notice Kiri's smile looked a bit forced.

Y/N: "Are you... okay? You look a little... unhappy..."

Kiri: "Unhappy?! Nononono! Even if I was, all that matters is that you're happy! It would be pretty unmanly of me to be jealous of you having a good time."

Kiri mumbled: "Although, I'd rather be the one to make you happy..."

Kiri: "But as long as you're smiling, I'm smiling."

He puts his hands on his hips and shines his sharp teeth at you cheerfully.

Y/N: "You really mean that?"

Kiri: "Of course I do. Don't worry about me, okay? I'm just your friendly neighbourhood Red Riot! I want to make everyone happy!" He mumbled again "I mostly want to make you happy though..."

Y/N: "What was that last part?"

Kiri: "Erm, nothing! I... I just... I really care about ya, you know?"

Y/N: "And I really care about you too..."

Kiri's eyes go wide, his smile instantly fading into an expression of surprise. He takes a step forward, his cheeks red.

Kiri: "You... do?"

You take a step forward.

Y/N: "I mean... of course I do..."

He takes one more step towards you and slowly raises his hand as if to touch your cheek.

Kiri: "Does that mean you... like... me?"

Y/N: "I... I..."

His face leans towards you.

Y/N: "Kiri...?"

Kiri: "C-can I... kiss... you?"

Y/N: "........ sure..."

Both of you jump at the sudden noise.

Mum: "Y/N! Come inside already! It's time for bed!"

You turn to your door.

Y/N: "Right! Coming, mum!"

Before you could turn your head back to Kirishima, he leans back in and kisses you on the cheek. You turn to face him slowly. Both your faces were bright red. You're also both smiling.

Y/N: "Kiri...?

Kiri: "I- uhm... I didn't scare you, did I?"

You let out a small giggle.

Y/N: "No. It was... sweet... I better go inside."

Kiri: "Yeah. I'll see you tomorrow."

You smile at him and walk to your door. You open it.

Kiri: "Oh, L/N..."

You turn back to him.

Y/N: "Yeah?"

Kiri: "Remember when I held you in the lunchroom during the break-in panic, the day Iida was made class rep?"

Y/N: "Yeah..."

Kirishima smiled mischievously and started walking backwards.

Kiri: "I definitely saw you blush up at me."

Y/N: "Eep...!"

Kirishima then ran down the street back home. He waved back at you.

Kiri: "See you in class tomorrow!!"

Y/N: "Kiri, you jerk! Why'd you have to bring that up?!"

You heard him laugh as he ran back home. You giggle to yourself and head inside.

Mum: "Who were you talking to?"

You smile.

Y/N: "Just a friend from school, mum."

Mum: "Mhmm. Well, up to bed. School in the morning. Try not to be up too late thinking about boys."

Y/N: "Mum!!"

You face goes red again.

Mum: "I love you."

Y/N: "... goodnight, Mum!" You mumble "I love you too."
