"What is this?" Hange asked, sliding a wooden box towards me

I opened the wooden box to see a coffee grinder. I hadn't seen one is such a long time, the look of it flooding me with such happy memories of my family.

"A coffee grinder" I answered

"What does that do?"

"Why am I here?" I asked, trying to find out what my family had to do with all of this

"Answer the question" Levi ordered

I stared at him. I wanted to slap him right then and there. But then again, he seems to enjoy that kind of stuff.

"It grinds coffee beans" I explained, but noticed the perplexed look on both of their faces

Something I noticed quite often was none of them ever seemed to know what coffee was.

Hange and Levi looked at each other and then back to me

"These beans are foreign to us" Hange broke the silence

My family always had big bags of coffee beans, they traveled with us everywhere we went. They were in our wagon before my family was attacked. As a child, I never knew the other people we met didn't know what coffee was. I just thought it was a luxury item my family could afford after my father's metal work and firearms sales.

"Where are you from?" Hange asked, breaking my thoughts

"Ragako. But I haven't been there in years" I looked down, clenching my apron in my hands "We left when I was fifteen. And then that's when.."

"Your family?" Hange asked

"Yes"

I looked up to Levi, he still facing the window behind Hange. He didn't say much.

"Do you know where your family was from prior to Ragako?" Hange asked more questions

"My mother was from Shiganshina. My father and his family moved around within Wall Maria before going into Wall Rose"

"What was your father's name?"

"Fernando DelToro" I answered

"And your grandfather?"

"Davíd DelToro"

The two looked at each other again, then Hange turned back to me

"You said your mother was from Shiganshina" Hange nodded "Did you ever go back?"

"Not that I know of; we always stayed within Wall Rose as long as I can remember"

"Did you know Annie Leonhardt, Bertholdt Hoover and Reiner Bruan? Ever see them as children before you worked here?"

"I only saw the boys around as I was doing cleaning. I remember they had a staring problem and would avoid me like I was sick. As for Annie, I don't know who that is. I've never met them before I worked here"

The two looked at each other again, Levi turning back to the window

"You and your family are mentioned in one of these journals we found during our recovery mission to Shiganshina" Hange lifted one of the leather bound journals and flipped through the pages

"A man named Grisha Yeager, Eren's father, wrote about the world outside the walls. From what we can gather in his writings, there are people outside our walls. There are also other things called countries: two of them being Marley..."

Hange looked up at me, peering over their glasses

"And Arbastes"

Marley? Arbastes? What were these places? What exactly were countries anyway?
