"Thank you, Ms. Royale, have a great day."

I lightly smiled at Mrs. Cote and put my scantron and paper exam on their respective pile. I glanced at the half-empty classroom before pushing the door and finally breathing after an hour and a half of intensity. Second-trimester examinations were more challenging. For the whole week, Julian has been killing us with studying. He forced us to wake up every day at eight to go to the library. He was a drill sergeant in our asses. It was for the better we had someone pushing us, but he was the worst tutor ever! He was so strict, and I hated when he yelled at us like a dad. I also noticed he was a little agitated. The slightest thing annoyed him; then he would act like he didn't care in my presence as if he was searching for a way to blow up without me inferring.

Thinking of this one, he was waiting for me in the hallway, his hands in his olive green sweatpants pocket and brown hoodie, focused on his phone. My steps caught his attention, and he frowned on his eyebrows when he noticed my defeated walk.

"So?"

"I think I got everything right except for one, maybe." I sighed.

"How?" He almost barked at me like it was a sin to miss one question

"I-I don't know, Julian." I shrugged. "I wasn't sure of it so I guessed."

He rolled his eyes and exhaled. "Alright, two days down, we still gotta ace tomorrow. Macroeconomic and Mathematic are bitches." He wrapped his arm around my neck. "Come on, let's go."

"Wow, slow down, cowboy. Can we get a coffee or a smoothie first? I am hungry."

"Okay, we can go get Starbucks, then we hit the books."

I rolled my eyes and agreed. At least, I can catch a break for a minute. Scholar Julian wasn't fun to be around.

"We have the week off after tomorrow. Do you want to do something?" I asked him.

"I don't know. I will be in and out. It's a busy schedule for me."

"Ohh..."

That sucked.

"You had plans in mind?" He cocked an eyebrow.

"Well... it had been really agitating weeks for us. I was just thinking...we could have a moment for us." I fidgeted the lace of my jogger. "But it's fine if you can't. I'd probably be working on my projects."

He huffed with a smile and kissed my forehead. "I promise, I'll make it up to you, okay?" His ocean eyes locked in mine. His Eau-de-parfum nicely stung my nostrils. From this angle, his jawline was sharp and defined. A few dark circles under his eyes, exposing his lack of sleep. The hoodie's hood covered his hair. He seemed exhausted as always.

"Okay." I grinned.

A distant noise addressed my ears. Julian didn't hear it, so we kept walking. Then I heard it again, but this time, it was followed by a fainted scream. The majority of students hadn't finished their exams, so the hallways were mostly deserted. Someone was banging somewhere and screaming, which is why it echoed around. I stopped walking and turned in the opposite direction.

"What?" Julian wondered, confused.

"Did you hear that?" I whispered.

"Hear what?" He frowned his eyebrows again.
