She wasn't anything more than a friend to Andres technically. She had feelings for him and they were clear, and he had very complicated feelings for her. But they were nothing more than friends who hooked up a couple of times. He didn't owe Ava an explanation for sleeping with another woman, and Ava knew that well, but it didn't make it any easier on her heart. She was still engaged to Martin, regardless of where her heart was. She hadn't told Martin about her feelings. She didn't have enough courage for that yet. The image of Berlin on the couch with the woman kept replaying over and over again in Ava's head. It had been an extremely long day. They had to coach Raquel through the whole hostage welfare check, and then everyone learned of Andres' illness. To top it off, Ava, of course, walked into Berlin with another woman. She had thought for a moment that he cared about her like she had always wanted, but seeing him with her just convinced her that she was wrong. That he still didn't love her the same way that she loved him. And he never would.         "You could go rest if you wanted," Tokyo spoke up, sitting down at the bottom of the stairs. They always had at least one of them on watch of the hostages, even if they were sleeping.          "I know." Ava sighed. She stayed looking ahead at the hostages who were knocked out from exhaustion. Ava was so tired and the coffee wasn't helping to wake her up in even the slightest anymore. "Thank you." Ava stood up from the stairs, offering Tokyo a smile, and then walked up the stairs. She went to the closest office, wanting to avoid Berlin if that was possible. She wasn't ready to talk to him. The only other person in the room was Moscow and he was out of it on the couch. Ava couldn't help but smile at the older man sleeping and snoring. Moscow was a father figure to all of them, and he was Denver's father. They all cared about him differently than the other heist members. He was the oldest of the group, and that made him in some ways the most loved. Ava walked over to the couch, pulling the sheet up so that it covered him better. Then she went over to the nice recliner chair in the corner and made herself comfortable. She lay there for about three hours, drifting off to sleep almost immediately. The day had kicked her ass. She closed the recliner and her eyes went straight to the folded sheet on the couch. Moscow had already woken up and was back to work. She stood up from the chair and watched as Martin walked inside the room. He must've been relieved by Moscow when he woke. "I have to get back on watch," Ava said before Martin could speak, almost wishing that he'd understand she didn't have time to talk right now. Martin nodded slowly and just stayed quiet. He thought they seemed to be on the right track, but he was putting pieces together. His mind seemed to run wild while he was working alone, and he had been connecting some dots. He just didn't know how to approach the conversation. Ava decided to just get back to work. She went to walk past him but he quickly grabbed her arm, stopping her in her tracks. Ava's brows furrowed and she turned to face him.       "Did you hear?"       "Hm?" Ava asked.       "Berlin's fucking with a hostage. I guess I just wanted to tell you that you're right." He almost smiled when he said that. This caused Ava's stomach to turn in a million different knots. "I have nothing to worry about. Between you and him."        "Yeah." Ava's voice was so low, almost sad when she said the word. Denver stopped in his tracks when he was walking by, and quickly stepped close to the two of them.        "You're okay?" Denver asked, his eyes going straight to Ava. He didn't bother even looking at Martin.        "I'm fine, Denver." Ava nodded as Martin released Ava's arm from his grip. Martin went straight over to the couch to get ready to lie down.       "I love you, Valencia," Martin said to Ava. Ava just smiled at him, not allowing herself to tell him a lie. She walked out of the room quickly, and Denver followed right behind her.      "Something happened," Denver revealed to Ava as they walked together.      "What?" Ava wasn't sure she could handle much more information. She was tired from all of the drama from the heist and it was slowly driving her mad. She had mentally been very strong before the heist, but after just a few long days here she was already being driven out of character. She was almost at a breaking point.       "Monica kind of kissed me."      Ava stopped in her tracks immediately and Denver stopped as well. They stood in the hall staring at each other. Denver was looking for an opinion from a friend and Ava was in complete shock. "What do you mean, kind of? She kissed you?"       "Yeah," Denver sighed and then admitted more, "She kissed me and I kissed her back. Then it led to more."       Ava's eyes widened. "Are you being serious right now, Denver? You had sex with her?"      "You had sex with Berlin." He shot back fast, and Ava sighed. She was no better in this situation and she knew that, but it didn't make the information any easier. "And you're engaged."       Ava's stomach turned in a million different ways. She was still engaged, but her heart was no longer with Martin. "Berlin had sex with a hostage." Ava needed to tell someone. Someone who knew how Ava felt about the man so that maybe they'd want to comfort her. She needed someone to be able to side with her. Denver's eyes widened too, now shocked as well.       "So everyone's just fucking everyone?" Denver couldn't help but laugh as he said this. "Except for us. We haven't got it on." Denver laughed harder and Ava's head shook.       "And we won't. Get it out of your mind." She laughed as well and for the first time in almost a whole day, she felt relieved and at peace. Denver could calm her in ways that nobody else really could. She cared about him as a friend, and Ava didn't expect that upon meeting him. She thought of him as nothing more than a childish boy who couldn't control his temper. He grew on her and quickly became someone that she would die for without hesitation.         Ava was on her third cup of coffee since waking up. She was sitting in the office chair, running over the numbers that Nairobi collected in just the last day. This was the biggest heist known to man. If they died, they died being a part of it at the very least. Ava looked up from the paper at Tokyo and Rio momentarily. They denied being in a relationship, but it was very clear in every little detail that they did care for each other. Rio was young, and Tokyo, young minded. The Professor had made it clear time and time again that relationships were forbidden, but everyone seemed to ignore that one rule. Her eyes flickered to the door when it opened and Berlin walked in. Quickly, she looked back down at the papers. Berlin's stare was straight on her as soon as he walked into the room. Tokyo and Rio both glanced at him, but their attention was back on each other in a matter of seconds.        "Everybody's taking a break now?" Berlin spoke, walking straight over to pour himself a cup of black coffee. He looked back at Ava, expecting a response or at least a glance, but she kept looking at the piece of paper that she had completely stopped reading.        "Dude, she doesn't want to talk to you," Rio said, looking at Berlin with a smirk on his lips. Tokyo couldn't help but snicker. Berlin looked straight at him and this caused Rio's eyes to wander over to Ava. Ava finally looked up from the paper, and let her gaze stop at Berlin. She felt the weight in her heart crushes her at just his eyes meeting hers. She stood up from the chair, going over to pour her fourth cup of coffee. At this point, she was drinking it out of habit and anxiety. She stood almost directly beside him. He was still looking straight at her silently, finally taking a sip of his coffee. Ava turned to look at him, her hands shaking slightly from the amount of caffeine.        "What were you thinking about when you were fucking her?" Ava questioned. The question made not only Berlin's eyes widen a little but both Tokyo's and Rio's as well. They didn't expect the words to leave Ava's mouth. She was slowly becoming someone different. Less sheltered, less quiet. She was becoming the woman that she once had been in just a short period. Berlin had that effect on her. He made her confidence run wild.        "What do you want to hear?" Berlin threw out another question, cocking an eyebrow up. He knew exactly what she wanted to hear as did everyone else. You'd have to be blind to not be able to see the way the two of them had been looking at each other since the first day they arrived at the house.        " The truth," Ava started, "not bullshit. Tired of your bullshit. I've been dealing with it for fifteen years." Ava snapped. There it was. She admitted to knowing him before, way before, the heist. Tokyo and Rio were both listening, but neither of them was watching at this point. They were still taking in all of the information.        "Okay," Berlin sat the cup of coffee down and then turned to face Ava completely. He stepped closer to her, his eyes locked on hers, "at first I was thinking how badly I wanted it to be you, but then I remembered you had a fiancé." He threw it back at her. "A man that you love," he paused for a moment, "you swear you love but have been unfaithful every single time I've come back into your life. Starting from when you were, what? Sixteen?" He couldn't help but smirk, but Ava's face fell completely. He was right, and that's why it stuck with her so hard. Starting from the beginning of her and Martin's relationship, she had always put Martin second. He would never measure up to Andres because she never let him.          "And what about you?" Ava questioned, her brows furrowing together. A smirk pulled on her lips in almost amusement. "You pride yourself so hard on playing with my fucking feelings my whole life, but I was in your bed the night before your first wedding. Bet your wife never knew that." She kept her eyes on him, anger replacing the sadness that had once been. "I can remember every single time I let you back in my life, and not because it was a good memory. It's simply because I never want to allow myself to trust someone again." She cocked her eyebrow up, waiting for his next smart comment. Berlin's smile didn't fade from his lips even still. He knew that he still had her wrapped around his finger. "And, by the way, I never once chased you down. If you don't remember, you came to my doorstep wanting me when you felt like something was missing in your life. I'm not going to say that I'm not in love with you, but I don't want to be. I don't want to care that you're fucking a hostage but I do. I do care-" Ava was cut off.          "In love with him?" Phoenix was in the doorway and he heard almost the whole conversation. Berlin had seen him there, but he didn't say anything out of almost vengeance. Tokyo and Rio both were now staring, brows furrowed at the three of them. Ava's head cocked, and she turned to face Phoenix, a frown on her lips. "You slept with him in here?" Berlin purposely stepped closer to Ava, and this just made Phoenix's blood boil more. He knew about the infidelities when they were younger, but he was surprised that she still would sleep with him and cheat on him. Ava stayed quiet, not wanting to answer the question. He had heard her admit it to Berlin. Phoenix acted out of anger and pulled the pistol out of his holster, walking over to the both of them and pointing the gun at Berlin. Berlin laughed aloud, but Ava stood in fear.         "Stop it." Ava snapped, bringing her hand up to Phoenix. "Don't act like a macho asshole. Put the fucking gun down."         "He wouldn't shoot me," Berlin said confidently. "He doesn't have the balls."          Phoenix quickly cocked back the gun, stepping closer to Berlin. Berlin laughed, but it was almost sadistic. He brought a hand down to grab his gun, pulling it out fast. He pushed past Ava, and practically knocked Phoenix back against the wall, pushing the gun against his head. Tokyo and Rio now both stood up, their attention on them.          "Berlin, stop it," Ava said the words calmly, reaching a hand out to his arm. Berlin's hand was starting to shake from his nerves. "Stop it."         "Fuck you." Phoenix snapped at Berlin. Berlin shoved the gun deeper into his skin, wanting so badly to pull the trigger.          "Berlin!" Ava yelled. "Fucking stop it!" Berlin stared at Phoenix for a moment with angry eyes, but slowly edged off of him, wiping off his gun in disgust and putting it away in his holster. Phoenix's glare was burning on Ava. Denver saved them from the awkwardness as he hurried into the room.         "They're escaping!" He hollered it. Everyone's attention was on Denver now, all of them in confusion. "Seventeen hostages are escaping now!"        "Fuck!" Berlin looked straight at Tokyo. "Get Nairobi and Helsinki." He ordered, following after Denver quickly down the hall. Ava grabbed her gun off of the office table, sprinting into action to follow the rest of the group. She wasn't sure the night could have gotten any worse, but then Denver came in with the worst news of all. The Professor had predicted this would happen, but everyone in the group quickly shot it down, not believing the hostages would ever be able to outsmart them. It seemed that they had just been naïve.
