Ok, are we all set ? said Carl as he put the last of Tessa's belongings in the back of a small removal truck, which would be taking her stuff to Genoa City because it was cheaper than taking it on the plane three day's later as excess luggage. Tessa's only insistence was taking her beloved guitar's come with them on the plane, she didn't trust the removal guy's not to break them on the way. That's it said Tessa after checking her room. Right well, we'll see you guy's at the apartment then. Carl gave them an advance so they could buy some food and stay somewhere on the journey. All that Tessa had left were her guitar's and a small suitcase full of clothes and essentials, just in case the removal truck was late turning up. I mean she did have a few things in her wardrobe and her drawers for visits home now and again and her bed was staying behind. She loved that bed! That's about the only bit in the shoebox she wasn't looking forward to, having a sofa bed to sleep on. Cindy and Carl had booked a room at a hotel called the Grand Phoenix to stay in while they settled Tessa in.

They had already checked with Dena and Frank when they were bringing Mariah? Oh, Mariah doesn't want us to come with her said Dena on the phone to Cindy. She's wanting to be miss independent. But don't worry she's not staying at the Grand Phoenix until the week after you leave. She's not got an apartment there yet then? said Cindy. No! Not yet. Jack Abbot has put Mariah up there for now because it's owned and run by his niece Abby? Ah! I see keep it in the family and save money, said Cindy. Maybe said, Dena. All I know is it's supposed to be very swish there. She also owns a restaurant/club called Society. I know she gives musician's spots there, so perhaps Tessa will sing there at some point? Who knows said Cindy I'm sure we will find out when they see one another. I just hope there's love and not fireworks? said Dena. Me too said, Cindy. Before saying bye and ending the call. Mariah was full of herself after having a zoom call with Jack. I still can't believe that in just over a week I will be in my first job, I'm being put up in a swanky hotel that has spa treatments and endless room service.

I also can't wait to go to a place called Society, the food is to die for according to Jack. Are you sure you don't want us to come and just help you settle in? said, Dena. No! No! Your fine said Mariah I'm just going to take three suitcases of clothes I'll leave the rest here if that's ok? Of cause it's ok said Dena this is your home. The seasons are a right mixture from hot to cold, so I guess I ought to go and start sorting out the bits I definitely need to take. Like some jumpers. She smiled at Dena as she went past her back to her room. I do hope you find Tessa she thought. Because although Mariah was putting on a brave face, Dena knew she'd left part of her heart back in Boston. On the flight to Genoa City Tessa was looking out of the window and wondering where Mariah was? Had she stayed in Boston? Did she get a job back in Denver? Cindy was watching Tessa as all these thoughts were crossing her mind. You'll be seeing her soon said Cindy under her breath.

Once they had landed Devon had laid on transport for them. First, they went to the Grand Phoenix and dropped off Cindy and Carl's luggage. Then they got taken to Tessa's new apartment, which she had loved called the shoebox! Oh wow ! said Carl and Cindy as they looked around one room, which contained a sofa bed, the living area, and Kitchen. Through another door was the bathroom. I know it's tiny she said but I can afford it on the advance I've been given and be able to feed myself quite happily. But we could have paid for something better said, Cindy. Shocked at how tiny it actually was. Look ! said Tessa I'm very independent and I appreciate that you adopted me and if I'm in trouble or any I will come to you I promise. For now, though I want to see if I can do this on my own! Ok said Carl we will accept your proposal. But just for tonight will you let us pay for a room at the Phoenix, so we can take you out to dinner and spoil you a bit for all your hard work and getting a record deal on top of everything else.

Also, I'm sorry but the removal people won't be here until the morning and you don't have any bedding. Ok! Ok! I give in said, Tessa. Can I try the mattress on the sofa first? Sure said, Carl. When Tessa sat on it she could feel every spring and dip in it! I think I need a new mattress said, Tessa. this one has seen some action! Right well, the first stop tomorrow morning then is to find you a new sofa bed? No! ed doesn't have to do that said Tessa it has character! It just needs a new mattress then it will be perfect. Ok, miss let's go and get you a room for the night. Wow! This is swanky said Tessa as she walked into the entrance. Cindy and Carl we're hoping to be able to get Tessa a room. They knew Mariah was not arriving for another week, so they were safe Tessa would not bump into her. Hi said the person behind the desk. Hi said Carl we're Mr. and Mrs. Porter and we're already booked in, but we were wondering if you have a spare room we could have for our daughter? Carl smiled at Tessa. Err I'll have to have a look for you said the blonde, that would be great thankyou said, Carl.
