Chapter Two
As soon as Lucy and I stepped out of the car, the whispers began.
"Who is she?"
"New girl?"
"I'd tap that!"
"Ugh who exactly is SHE?"
It actually felt good to have people saying these things about me instead of the usual cruel comments. I ignored all of them though and casually strolled into school with Lucy by my side. I put my arm over my head and locked my car the way Zac Efron did in 17 again. I felt so freaking cool when I did that hehe. Everyone followed us into the school like puppies. We walked past Blake's locker and I swear his jaw dropped. I felt his gaze on us as we walked away.
"Girl, Blake totally just checked you out!" Lucy giggled. "And the way you just ignored him as if he wasn't there was awesome"
"Thank you, thank you very much" I said in an Elvis-Presley voice.
"Yo, new girl" I turned to the Andrew, the jock, next to me with one raised eyebrow.
"Can I have your number?" he asked.
I put my finger on my chin and put on a thoughful expression. "Hmm.. How about never in a million years. Bye." and with that I walked away from him. Okay, so that might've been mean but I will never forget the day Andrew dropped his lunch on me in the cafeteria on purpose. Sure, I might've punched him so hard in the stomach he started retching, but that honestly didn't feel like payback.
"Wow, we've only been here five minutes and you've already got boys asking for your number. Niceee" Lucy commented.
"I kinda miss when nobody really paid me attention" I grumbled. "Maybe this makeover was a bad idea" I immideatly felt bad for saying that when I saw Lucy's slightly crestfallen face. I knew she'd worked so hard just to make me look perfect and spent half of her own money buying all of the supplies.
"Lu, I'm sorry I didn't mean it like that!" I aplogized and hugged her.
"It's okay, we all know you miss being a tomboy!" she said and give me a smile. I grinned back. We continued walking in silence until we went our seperate ways to class. I paused at the classroom door before flinging it open and walking in.
"New student?" Mrs Allen looked up from her register. She was a fat, short teacher who wore glasses.
"Actually it's Sophie Emerson" I said loudly, making sure everyone heard.
"THAT'S SOPHIE EMERSON?"
"Woah, who know she had a fit bod beneath all those baggy clothes she used to wear"
"Damn she looks good"
"Ugh her hair is so perfect"
I ignored all of them and collapsed in my seat, ignoring the whispers.
"Everybody turn to page 45 in their books" Mrs Allen instructed. I leaned back in my chair as I hadn't brough any books in my bag. All that was inside was my phone (the new Iphone 5. Lucy insisted I had to get it), my lunch and my purse.
"Where's your book, Miss Emerson?" Mrs Allen asked.
"At home" I said.
"I'm very disappointed in you Sophie, we all know you can do better" she said with a disappointed expression. The old Sophie would have felt bad and would have immediately apologised but the new me didn't feel anything.
"We all know you could lose weight" I smirked as the whole class roared with laughter. Okay maybe, roaring with laughter is exaggerating it a bit but they definitely laughed loudly, a bit like hyena's actually.
Mrs Allen opened her mouth to reply but at that exact moment the bell wrong.
"Too late" I said before grabbing my bag and walking out of the door.
*~*
The rest of my classes passed similar to that before it was break. By now nearly all of the school knew that the nerd Sophie, had gotten a makeover and was looking 'extra-hot' (their words, not mine.). As Lucy and I were walking towards the cafeteria to get a snack I heard someone calling my name. I looked up and saw the Queen Bee, Vanessa Jackson, striding towards me with her fake cronies following behind.
"Lucy darling! I haven't seen you all day" she shreiked in her ridiculously high voice. She kissed Lucy on both cheeks saying, "Kiss kiss babes". I rolled my eyes feeling sorry for her.
"Oh hi Sophie! Didn't see you there!" she shrieked again and kissed my cheeks. I winced and shot a death glare at Lucy as she silently laughed.
"I was, like, wondering if you'd two would like to sit at our tables at lunch" she asked.
"Actually-" I began
"Sophie and I already made plans to go out for lunch today. Sorry Vanessa!" Lucy hurridly put in and sent me a look that clearly said "don't utter another word". I heard the cronies mutter and whisper about how we had rejected Vanessa's invite. However Vanessa herself just shrugged and smiled at us.
"Okay. Here are invitations to my party on Friday" she shoved two invitations into our hands before turning and walking away while swaying her hips. "Bye girls!" she called.
Lucy looked at me. I looked at Lucy.
"Well... that was interesting" I said. Lucy laughed and soon I was laughing too. I didn't even know why we were laughing! People gave us looks as we passed them but we continued laughing, ignoring them.
Millions of years later we wiped tears from our eyes and entered the cafeteria. I bought two slices of pizza (hey, just because I've got a makeover, it doesn't mean you'll find me eating salad) and Lucy got a packet of caprisun. I swear that girl would marry caprisun if she could. We exited the place and walked in silence, eating and drinking. I spotted Kyle, my best boy friend, and waved madly at him.
"Hey! Kyle!" he walked to us with a confused look on his face.
"Er... do I know you?" he asked.
"It's Sophie Emerson you dumbass" I rolled my eyes and grinned. His eyes widened and his jaw dropped.
"Y-you look s-s-o" he stuttered unable to finish his sentence.
"Like it?" I asked and spun around.
"W-ow"
"Thank me" Lucy grinned proudly. "She looks beautiful doesn't she Kyle" Kyle didn't answer. I think he was a bit shocked.
I laughed and shoved her for putting him on the spot like that. She shoved me back. We continued doing that for the rest of break.
