Rough seas, and blue skies,
That was what your love was to me.
Holding me close no matter how high the waves were,
You were a lighthouse in my raging sea.

And though I admired your bravery,
It seems I could never find the words to thank you enough.
So I embraced you silently,
Your body a pillar of warmth, though the terrains of life were rugged and rough.

And now as I gaze upon your cold body, laying peacefully in the ground,
I realize that a simply I love you been sufficient.
How much meaning and emotions it would hold,
But my muddled thoughts were just to incoherent.

And all I feel now is an overwhelming regret,
As they mourn for you and leave you to rest.
A small sense of serenity and a sprinkling of despair,
For the gratitude I should have expressed.
