Purple.

It seemed like a simple color to most, but it meant a lot of special things to Jake.

Firstly, it was associated with royalty, and Jake was obsessed with royalty. When he was young, he loved to play as the prince with his friends, as Henry played the princess and Liam played the monster.

He also loved BTS. Purple hearts represent Borahae, which means endless love. It was a bond, a special trust between him and all the other Armys.

And the one that mattered the most to him, Alexzander Wickham.

The boy was basically a walking grape (as Jake liked to call him). He had purple hair and soft lavender eyes. He wore purple clothes and even his room was painted completely purple.

He was the guy Jake had fallen madly in love with.

It wasn't easy to become friends. It was even harder to become closer. But they found similarities. Common interests, and before Jake knew it, Zander became the person he trusted the most.

Zander loved the color purple too. Maybe it didn't mean anything special to him, but he still loved the color.

Therefore, Jake had an obsession with getting Zander anything purple he could.

Whether it was perfume or a whole purple-themed cake, he liked getting Zander everything purple.

And Zander wanted to do something for him too.

Like usual, Jake sauntered into the house he shared with his boyfriend, looking forward to kissing him as a greeting. Well, at least that's what he expected to do—until he saw the flowers covering the floor.

The floor was covered in some rose petals and a lot of small purple lavenders. Jake eyed the flowers leading up the stairs.

Jake raised his eyebrows. He followed the trail of flowers up the stairs, feeling as if he was in one of those Korean dramas, where the main character makes a big, romantic gesture for the love interest when he wants to marry her.

That thought caused a mini panic in him. He wasn't ready for marriage. He loved Zander but he wasn't ready to get married yet.

He walked into the room that the flowers were leading to—the room that was originally Zander's but became theirs after one too many "Just for tonight, I'm lonely, you won't leave a pretty man to sleep alone in his bed, would you?". His eyes widened at the sight.

The room was decorated with all of his favorite things. The bed had a purple bed sheet, having 'Army' written on it. There were three different plates full of lollipops—all Jake's favorite flavors, he noticed. Lavenders scattered around on the bed and floor, a big pink and purple banner on the wall saying—

"Happy Birthday, my love."

Jake felt arms wrap around his waist and he turned around to see Zander, smirking in pride at his reaction.

"So what do you think?" he asked, holding back a chuckle at Jake's shocked face.

"I— Zander, this is amazing!" Jake exclaimed, a laugh escaping him as he rubbed his eyes to not get too emotional.

Zander's smirk turned into a shy smile. "I had to take a lot of help from Drew, Henry, and Liam—I don't think they're ever gonna let me live it down."

Jake threw his head back with a laugh, pulling Zander to hug him. "Oh, absolutely not, Drew will tease you forever." Zander groaned playfully.

Jake sighed, pulling back slightly to peck his lips, soft and chaste. "Thank you," he whispered, "I almost forgot my own birthday."

Zander gasped in horror. "How?" he demanded.

Jake shrugged. "It doesn't matter." He nuzzled Zander's neck. "You're here and that's all I could wish for."

Zander hummed. "My surprises aren't over yet though."

"Is that so?" Jake pulled away enough to look at Zander, a fond smile dancing on his face. Zander nodded, letting go and then offering his arm.

Jake mockingly bowed, making Zander grin. They linked arms as Zander took his boyfriend down to the backyard.

The backyard was decorated too. How Zander made their small backyard look like something out of a fairytale was beyond him. Bright shades of white, green, and lavender were everywhere he looked, with a small made-up dance floor in the middle. Zander went to a nearby table and pressed a button on his phone. An advertisement started playing, and Zander groaned.

Jake covered his mouth, trying to not laugh. "This is why you should've let me buy Spotify Premium."

Zander huffed. "Absolutely not, I refuse. It's a waste of money, it's all a scam."

The advertisement finally ended, 'Euphoria' playing, and Zander offered his hand to Jake.

"May I have this dance?"

Jake grinned. Instead of answering, he intertwined their fingers, pulling Zander on the dance floor.

They got into the classic pair dance position—Jake's hands on Zander's waist and Zander's around Jake's neck. They swayed to the music, Jake still observing the decorations.

"You really went all out, didn't you?" Jake chuckled, his eyes meeting the pretty lavender ones.

"What can I say?" Zander shrugged a little. "I wanted to make this special for you."

"You make it special by just being here with me."

A shy smile pulled Zander's lips as he tried to cover his face by nuzzling Jake's neck. "You're so corny."

Jake laughed, stopping dancing and just holding Zander close, Jungkook's voice playing softly in the background.

Take my hands now,
You are the cause of my euphoria.

"You know," Jake spoke, "I thought this was a marriage proposal for a moment."

Zander laughed, his eyes crinkling up. "I would have a little more tact than that."

Jungkook's voice softly sang the bridge. The wind blew Zander's hair back and he looked up into Jake's eyes and at that moment, it felt like they were the only people in the world. In that moment, they were the only ones who mattered to each other, anyway.

One day, Jake would really love to marry him.

Close the door now,
When I'm with you I'm in utopia.
