"Bad?" I hear a very familiar voice call out from behind me. I turn around to see nun-other then Ant standing there with his hands full of bags and a huge smile on his face. "Ant!" I shriek, jumping up and wrapping my arms around him. He drops his bags to hug back.
"Bad! What the hell..." I hear Red from behind me. I let go of Ant to see him with his hands on his knees trying to catch his breath, Zak a little behind him completely fine. "Guys! It's Ant!" I yell, making Red look up at him. He immediately stands up straight, staring at him. "This is Zak." I inform him, pointing to Zak who gave a little wave and smile. "And this is Red, the little muffin who swears to much." I say putting my hands on my hips in teasing disappointment. He didn't care though he just stood there shifting from side to side slightly.
"Yeah- uh yeah I'm- Red. That's
me-" He stutters. I hear Ant giggle a bit before crouching down to pick up his bags. "I'm guessing this is the Zak who's mute. The one you talk about so much." Ant says elbowing me in my forearm. I look over at him giving him a look that said "watch it". He understood immediately, going to walk off."Wait! We have to wait for the others!" I call out to him, making him turn around. "There's more?" He asks with an excited smile. "Yup! Remember everyone I told you about on my first day?" I ask. He nods. "I see." He relies looking around at our busy surroundings.
We waited there for another five minutes, but it felt like forever. Yeah, I had people with me but I still couldn't just ignore the big crowds around us.
We walk over to take a seat on the many chairs just in front of the terminal four entrance. I couldn't help but see Red occasionally glance over at Ant since they were sitting right across from each other I thought it was just a coincidence at first. I smiled at this, finding it kind of cute. "Hey Red," I blurt out, making him look over at me instead. "You play Minecraft, right?" I ask, already knowing the answer."Yeah, we play all the time." He makes a disappointed face at me for "forgetting". I didn't. "Really?" Ant chimes in with a smile. "That's my favourite game," He states. I look over at him with a smile, already knowing that. I knew they both really like video games, so I used that as a conversation starter to actually get them talking to each other.
"You've got good taste." Red compliments leaning back in his chair. "Well, I mostly like PvP games." Ant says. "Yeah, a really good one is
Valo-" "Valorant!" They exclaim in unison. They just look at each other for a moment before laughing. That was a real soulmate moment if you ask me. Zak was sitting across from me beside Red just watching this go down. We look over at each other, giving each other "that look". Zak knew exactly what I was doing."Smart" He signs with a slight chuckle. "You can not tell me they aren't perfect for each other" I sign back, not wanting them to hear. Even if I did say it out loud they most likely wouldn't even hear because they were still talking.
Finally after what felt like hours, which was only ten more minutes my phone dinged. It was from Finn informing us they were finally here. "Awesome, Clay and George are finally here!" I announce. "What took them so long" Zak complains. "Yeah what took them so long?-" I translate, putting my phone away. "They were probably fucking or something." Red rolls his eyes. "Aye, language!" I warn him. Ant just laughs at Red's words. That is his kind of humour, which I only get some of the time.
"Hey! Sorry we're late!" I hear a voice that sounded out of breath apologize. I look over to see Clay, George, and Finn. "Finally!" I groan. "These airports are not the best to be stuck at." I say standing up, Ant mirroring my actions; curious to meet the new comers. "Ant- this is Clay, Finn, and George!" I introduce them all. Everyone greeting each other with friendly smiles.
"I don't know about you guys but I'm starving." George complained. "Same, let's get some lunch!" Finn pipes up. I look back at Ant to see him nod in agreement. "Alright then, where shall we go?" I ask. "There's a food court here" Zak suggests. "How hugry is everyone?" I ask. "Like about to die this second hungry!" Finn exclaims dramatically. "Ok well Zak saw a food court somewhere around here-" "Yup! Let's go!" Red cuts me off, beginning to walk some direction. I look over to see Zak pointing in the opposite direction.
"This way idiot!" Clay calls out. He immediately turns around, walking the right way like nothing happened, earning a laugh from all of us. We all made it to the food court in no time, but because it's lunch time the busyness is even worse. We all grouped up, all going to different places in the food court. Me, Zak, and Finn went to go get some burgers. We were the first ones to leave the group so I wasn't so sure who else went with who, but when we got back we were the last ones back.
Ant and Red were sitting across from each other again. I couldn't help but feel happy that Ant is getting along with someone so quickly. We took our time eating, not being in any kind of rush. "We should do something tomorrow, all of us" Zak suggests as we ate. "Yeah we should, what would people be up for tomorrow?" I ask everyone. "Oo! What about the beach!" Clay blurts out. "Isn't it supposed to rain tomorrow?" George asks skeptically. "Well, technically it says it's supposed to get nicer tomorrow and then get worse again tomorrow night." Clay informs us, going off of what his phone is telling him.
"Well, either way I'm down." Ant agrees with an excited smile. "Sweet! Beach day tomorrow!" Finn exclaims. I look over at Red who was oddly silent. I notice he was staring at Ant's wrists, if I were to guess he was looking for his words, but his hoodie sleeves were covering them up. "Red? How do you feel about a beach day?" I ask, nudging him a bit. "Oh, yeah that sounds fun," Red says looking towards me with a smile.
"Ok, I would like to use the washroom before we go." Ant informs us before getting up and walking off. I see Red rest his head in his hands as I lean over to him. "He hasn't found his soulmate yet by the way." I whisper, making him look up at me with a hopeful smile.
Minutes later Ant came back. We all decided to clean up our table and go back home since Ant was pretty tired from the trip. We said our goodbyes to George and Clay, confirming the plans we made for tomorrow before getting into Zak's car. I sat in the passengers seat, while Zak of course drove. Ant put his stuff in the trunk before joining Finn and Red in the back, Finn being in the middle.
"Alright, I'll pick you guys up around twelve" Zak signs. "How does twelve tomorrow work for you two?" I translate, looking back at them as they opened the door to get out. "Sound good!" Red smiles. "Bye Red! It was nice meeting you! You too Finn!" Ant waves goodbye as they close the door.
Minutes later we pulled up to my house. "Alright well, I'll see you tomorrow." I smile at Zak as Ant gets out to grab his things from the trunk. Zak smiles back as he leans in, I lean in too, wrapping my arms around him in an awkward hug. "This is painful to watch-" I hear Ant say from behind me. "Why are you watching, weird
muffin-" I laugh as we pull away. "Just stop flirting and come on." Ant laughs as he turns around and walks towards the front door. "Ok, bye!" I conclude, putting my hand out to give Zak the most awkward high five. He waves as I close the car door behind me."Is it possible for someone to be that awkward?" Ant teases. "Let's just go inside." I mumble, feeling my face flush with embarrassment.
"So, you and Red huh?" I break the comfortable silence. Ant looks away from the movie we were watching on my laptop and looks at me; his face fully pink. "You and Zak, huh?" He responds with a laugh. "I actually hate you-" I cross my arms in fake disappointment. "I guess he's pretty cool." Ant mumbles, answering my question. "Told you." I laugh, nudging him playfully.
