Chapter 5

Chase POV

I couldn't stay with her any longer. Knowing I'm going to have to mate with her and marry her kills me. Especially knowing she's going to be watching all of it. I rang my dad and asked if I could come home early 'to get everything ready' for when Ariana arrives.

When I finally get home I park outside my childhood home and I almost almost thought I'd gotten away without being seen when the most amazing smell intoxicated my senses, I'd know that smell anywhere. My mate. My true mate.

I turned my head to follow the scent and I wasn't surprised to find her in Chloe's room. But what did shock me was her tense posture and Chloe wiping the tears away from her eyes. My wolf was howling at the thought of my princess being in pain. Especially because we're causing it.

"We're? Oh no no, there's no we in this decision, this is all your fault entirely, I need my mate Chase." Growled Xavier my wolf.

I sighed knowing everything he said was true, but there's nothing I can do. I continue to stare up at the window unable to move. She finally looks down at me.

"Mate. Get mate." Growls Xavier.

But I can't.

After what seems like years of staring into her beautiful emerald eyes I see them move towards the car I've just gotten out of and see her brown furrow in confusion but see a flash of relief pass through her eyes.

Then everything around her goes black and she disappears.

"Find her. Find her now something's wrong." Xavier says

I jog over to the Betas house and just catch a glimpse of Jess sprinting out of the back of the house and into the pack Forrest leaving a faint trail of black dust behind her.

"Follow" Xavier demands.

So I do, I follow the black dust deep into the forest.

Jess POV

I ran.

And I won't stop running until I'm far away from everything.

The trees mingled into one as I flew (not literally) through the trees.

I felt like I'd been running for atleast an hour when I finally felt something happen in the back of my head.

"Stop" Called a woman's voice.

But I couldn't stop I was going too fast.

"Stop running, you need to stop". said the voice again more forcefully this time.

Everything came to a grinding halt and I found myself in a small patch of grass surrounded by massive trees and next to a little pond.

"You really shouldn't have ran all the way out here, especially when there's something wrong with your fairy." The voice traveled through the air around me like silk.

"Woah, how do yo-"

"Come to the water" I was interrupted by her.

I slowly walked towards the pool of water and kneeled down.

"Look in the water" She told me.

"All I see is my reflection" There I was, I looked way better than I expected to look after running all the way here and bawling my eyes out.

"No that's me" my reflection said to me.

"Woah no okay what's this, where the cameras, this some sort of trick Chloe, because it's not funny" I said moving away from the water.

"This is no trick I ensure you, please come back to the water again, I don't have long and you've much to learn." She said to me.

"Well, can you please explain what the hell this is"

"Think of me as the moongoddess to fairies. I look over you although I'm not with you physically. I'm sure you want to know whats wrong with Fae" She explained.

"Fae? Who's Fae?" I asked

"Your fairy my darling."

"Oh. I didn't know she had a name, she's never told me."

"You've never asked her. She's maturing, she shouldn't be maturing this early, I know your 18 but fairies are late bloomers and we don't mature until were 21. But don't worry I know whats caused it and everything will be fine. I can't believe them idiots haven't told you any of this-

"Woah who, who's the idiots? Mature, what faes a child, can you, what?" I'm so confused right now.

"I know your confused but just listen. Please go and visit Jolene, she's there for you, she will tell you everything she knows. Fae will be fine, just give her tonight to recover and tomorrow, when you wake up, you'll have a lot to face and it'll be a difficult day. But please stay strong. Fae will talk to you more and you'll be physically stronger. Trust me, everything will be alright."

"Erm oh okay. Er thanks."

"Goodbye my darling child." And with that my reflection turned into well, me.

She's not wrong with tomorrow being a difficult day, I've no idea how I'm going to face Chase and his ugh, mate.

I look in the water at my true reflection. My eyes have calmed down but, they're brown. Maybe it's to do with Fae or whatever my fairies name is doing a runner. I pull a few twigs out my hair and pull it up into a tight pony. I'm going straight to Jolene tomorrow.

I hear a twig snap and I whip my head round in the direction of the noise. I don't have my powers right now so there's no way I can defend myself if this isn't a rabbit.

"Jess?"

My heart skips a beat, Chase has followed me into the Forrest, why? All I ever seem I ask myself these past few days is why.

"Chase?" I reply.

"What the hell are you doing all the way out here, your on neutral ground, way out of the packs control. You could have been hurt, god forbid anything else. I finally get home to find your risking your life doing stupid things. You've never been any different. You just don't think about what your doing." Chase shouted as he walked closer towards me emerging from the forest.

At first, I shed a tear at Chases hurtful comments. But then something inside of me snapped.

"Don't you dare come back here and tell me what I can and can't do. Yes I may have gone too far over the pack line but I didn't realise I had. And if you want an apology then fine. IM SORRY, OKAY?! Are you happy now. Now, this has been a lovely reunion, I'm glad to see that you haven't changed either, still repeatedly stabbing me in the heart I see. Well, got to go, got a life to get on with. Thanks. Goodbye Chase."

And that goodbye I meant. I stormed towards the line of trees towards home and didn't look back once.
