That's the one thing I hate the most.

"Oh look, it's the new guy."

"Stop being so shy. You're a man."

"Say something weirdo."

A bump on the road wakes me up suddenly, breaking my train of thoughts. Adrenaline rushed through me making me more aware of my surroundings. We were still on the road with mom and dad chatting in the front seat. Relief washed over me as my breathing rate began to steady.

That's how change is. A bumpy road. A hurdle, a resistance.

"Are you okay?"

I could sense the worry in mom's voice but didn't want to worry her. It wasn't her fault or dad's.

"Yeah."

Wasn't a lie but not the complete truth either.

Laying back, my eyes rested upon the golden rays that ignited shadows to vivid oranges and bubblegum pink, causing the most brilliant of mosaics. I take out my phone to preserve this work of art. A few birds pass by and I click, capturing the moment. I think of what to write with it but my mind feels too jumbled to construct a single sentence. Sighing, I turn it off and close my eyes again.

I've never been good with words anyways.
