Pain. Searing, agonizing pain. It filled every fiber in my body, setting my cells ablaze with fire. It seemed an agonizing cycle of agony, and for a moment I thought that I had died and gone to hell. That is what this was, the fiery pits of the underworld threatening to torture me for the rest of my existence.

The electricity coating my veins was like a switch had flipped. The fire didn't feel so unbearable anymore, in fact, it was comforting. It seemed to fuel my cells rather than deteriorate them, and I felt alive with energy. The pain had been so consuming that I remembered the whispers that floated around my head. I knew without a doubt that the voices were not mine. They were thoughts, images, and ideas that circled in the minds around me.

Yet, it didn't seem as clear as it first was. Instead, it felt like I was seeing and hearing the voices through a translucent wall. The words were muffled, and the images blurry.

Beyond that, only a few remnants of thoughts before nothing. It was like a big, black wall consuming the area around me.

The electrical feeling ended just as fleetingly as it had started, and for a moment I was sure that the pain would return full force. Yet, it didn't. The fire had settled down to warm glow of embers, my soul content in the warmth of those few embers.

An image and words seem to come out clearer than the others, and I couldn't help but listen.

The image was blurry, but what I could make out was that it looked like me. I was laying on some kind of hospital bed, the hospital gown barely covering my body that was pale and clammy. My hair was strewn to the side, but the familiar shade did resemble my own.

The only thing odd about the image was that there was someone else. He had a full head of reddish brown hair that seemed almost silky. It hung in front of his face, not letting me see his features even if the image was clear. But I couldn't be mistaken in one thing. He was... kissing me.

The words of thoughts floated through my ears. He kissed her, they said. Perhaps they truly are soulmates. After all, it seemed to have worked.

I snapped open my eyes. My brain seeming to acknowledge my other senses now. It was like surfacing from a pool of water. Natural sounds filled my ears. The shuffle of feet, the soft ring of a heart monitor.

My eyes were drawn to the figure standing above me. It was those same silky, reddish brown strands of hair, except now I could nearly see every strand with perfect clarity.

My thoughts slipped to the image of him kissing me, and I couldn't help but blush. My finger instinctly reached to my lips, but a cold piece of metal stopped my hand. I looked down, eyes slightly wide at the small click of metal. An unfamiliar ring of metal surrounded my wrist, the other half strapped to the bed.

I looked back up, surprised as the figure turned around. The boy seemed to have the same look of surprise on his own features before his gaze softened.

"Thank goodness you're okay. I thought I'd lost you." Tears brimmed his eyes before he looked away, slightly ashamed.

There wasn't much I could do but stare at him in my state, my mouth parted in shock. I don't know what had happened in the eventful last few hours, but he was here. My soulmate, Kim Namjoon.

"You kissed me," I blurted, a blush rising to my cheeks. The short clip of the two of us seemed to be playing on repeat in the nurses head, and it was a wonder that Namjoon didn't notice.

He turned back, his own cheeks a rosy pink from blushing. He put one hand on the back of his neck. "I uh- I'm sorry about that. It just seemed like the right thing to do."
