A MONTH LATER HERE we are, sitting in the auditorium waiting for the principal to call Rivyn's name. Nayeli and Denali had their graduation yesterday and it was soul crushing. I definitely did cry or anything like that.
Finally after several minutes of waiting, Rivyn's name is called. Arsyn, her parents, Hayden, Riley, Emory, Casey, the twins, and I rise from our seats and start cheering for him. "That's my baby brother," Arsyn yells for the whole auditorium to hear and apparently Rivyn hears too because he sends a smile toward her direction, accepting his diploma as he shakes the principal's hand.
They continue on with the other students until the names have finally concluded. The Valedictorian finishes her speech and the new grads stand, getting ready to throw their caps. They start counting down and once they get to one, their caps are thrown.
Arsyn cheers from beside me and I relish this moment, watching her so happy for her brother's accomplishment. What I would give for her to always be happy like this.
