Cassie awoke to the sound of water running, and slowly opened her eyes. The last thing she could remember was being switched into Loki's arms, so she had no idea where she was now.

It seemed to be some kind of small wooden house made mainly for one person. She groaned as she sat up on the couch, rubbing her forehead.

Loki appeared in front of her in that moment, causing her to flinch. "You're awake."

Cassie relaxed when she realized it was only Loki, and nodded. "Where are we?"

"One of my safe houses," Loki explained. "The entire house is cloaked so no one outside of it besides us will be able to see it, which includes Heimdall."

"Heimdall? But I thought he helped us."

"He did, but he's sworn to listen to the throne. If Odin told him to tell him where we were, Heimdall would have to listen. He helped us since my mother asked for it and Odin didn't explicitly forbid it," Loki explained.

"Ah, got it. How long have I been out?" Cassie asked.

"Only a few hours. I set up a bath if you want, I assume you didn't get a chance to in the cell."

"Are you saying I smell?" Cassie joked.

"Just a little," Loki joked back, and the two laughed.

"I do smell though, I'll take that bath." Cassie went to stand up, and started falling over, before Loki teleported to her side and steadied her. "Thanks."

"Think you can bathe on your own?" Loki chuckled.

Cassie blushed at what he implied, and a moment later Loki seemed to realize what he said as well, and the tips of his ears turned a little pink.

Neither said anything as Loki led her to the bathroom, and let her go as she sat on top of the counter.

"Just call if you need anything," Loki spoke up, before leaving, and closing the door behind himself like the gentleman he was.

Cassie slouched as he left. She was trying to act like she felt a lot better than she really did. The bruises on her body were all still sore.

Cassie got off of the counter and stripped, trying to ignore the mirror behind her so she didn't have to glimpse her scarred body.

She took a nice warm bath, scrubbing so hard that her skin turned red for a few minutes. She only got out when she was satisfied that she got all the grime off, and dried herself with a towel and changed into clothes that Loki seemed to have left for her.

She could tell they were his, since the pants and shirt were huge on her, so she had to roll up the pants up to her knee. It oddly comforted her that it smelled like him, and she breathed into the shirt for a moment. She could technically take out clothes from her dimensional pocket, but she was already exhausted so why waste energy?

Cassie took a look at her pale skin and scarred body, and used her power that had returned to change her form into the fake human form she had adopted. Her skin was more tan, and her tail and fangs were gone, and her hair turned to brown. She also made her eyes blue like normal. Since she changed forms, all the bruises were hidden

When she was satisfied that she covered everything, she sent her dirty clothes to her dimensional pocket and went out of the bathroom.

She found Loki reading on the couch, and he looked up the second she stepped out of the bathroom.

"You changed," was the first thing he said.

"Well I couldn't very well stay in those dirty clothes, now could I? I also assumed these clothes were for me, were they not?" She knew that wasn't what he was referring to, but she was hoping to pretend.

"Of course they were for you, but you know that's not what I meant." Loki set his book down and stood up to approach her.

"I have my powers back and I'm able to change, why shouldn't I change from that form?" Cassie asked. "I hate it anyway."

"You shouldn't," Loki argued.

"Why not? You hate yours."

"Because yours is beautiful. Don't hide it," Loki said softly.

Cassie looked down to hide her blush, but Loki thought that he had said something wrong and tried to fix it. "No, no, I'm sorry if I-"

"You didn't do anything wrong," Cassie looked back up when she got her blush under control and smiled softly. "I'd just rather stay like this." She would also rather not have him see the scars on her body.

Loki nodded sadly. "Whatever makes you feel comfortable."

"So what's there to do around here?" Cassie changed from the awkward subject, and Loki welcomed it.

"You should rest first, but there's plenty to do around the property, and I can show you later," Loki promised. "I don't know how long we're going to be here."

"This isn't just for now?"

"Thor and I are working on a more long term solution, hopefully convincing Odin that you're no threat, but for now we have to stay here undetected or Odin will take you again."

Cassie shuddered just at the thought of being taken away again. "I guess we're staying here then."

Loki nodded. "You should probably get some rest. I'll show you the bedroom, I can take the couch."

"Loki," Cassie sighed in exasperation. "We can share the bed, I don't mind."

"Are you sure? I-"

"What? Are you afraid I'll kill you in your sleep?" Cassie teased.

"Among another things," Loki muttered.

Cassie tilted her head to the side saying she didn't understand, but Loki didn't explain.

So where's the bedroom? Cassie asked through her mind, and Loki chuckled as he got the message.

This way, come on. Loki turned around and led her through a door where there was a nice sized bed and closet where she could see lots of Loki's clothes.

There's a market near here, and I can go tomorrow and get whatever we need. Loki told her as they each climbed in on each side of the bed.

I'm coming with you, Cassie left no room for discussion and Loki chuckled, making Cassie grin.

Cassie got settled under the blanket, while Loki got comfortable on his side on top of the blanket, and she didn't waste breath convincing him to come in. "Good night, Loki."

"Good night."
