(A/N-*sigh* Pollen allergies suck. Nosebleeds suck. And I'm prone to both. A lot. I got a nosebleed when we were at Disney World for crying out loud! Seriously! I started thinking about how annoying they are, and realized, 'Al would probably get all panicky if reader-chan randomly got a nosebleed out of nowhere.' Thus, this one-shot came to be. In other news, I've listened to this song that's on here like seven times today. It's an amazing cover of the first Attack on Titan opening, but it's acoustic. Okay, back to the story. Enjoy!)

Pollen. How you hated the little tiny particles. They caused you so much discomfort, sniffly noses, fits of coughing, and the worst one of all. Nosebleeds that occurred at random intervals.
A high-pitched sneeze erupted from you. You groaned softly, and you grabbed another tissue from your pocket.
You glanced over to the two brothers sparring in your friend's yard. From where you were on the balcony of Winry's house, you had a perfect view. You tried your best to ignore the stuffed up feeling you were experiencing, and focused instead on the large suit of armor engaged in hand to hand combat with the smaller male. It still fascinated you that Alphonse could move so quickly and fluently when he was over seven feet tall and made entirely of metal. Of course, you'd seen his clumsiness elsewhere, when he knocked stuff over, or ran into things in smaller spaces. You thought it was actually pretty adorable. In fact, it was one of the things that made you fall for him in the first place. That, and his kindness, cute voice, shyness, the list went on.
But showing affection wasn't really your strong suit. You tended to be pretty closed off when it came to showing affection, one reason you haven't told him anything about your true feelings.
Your train of thought was derailed as Winry came and joined you on the balcony.
"Looking at that certain someone, (Y/n)?"
"H-huh?" Your gaze darted towards her, confused.
"You've been staring at them sparring since they've been out there. It's obvious that you like him."
You blushed, looking at the ground and saying nothing.
"You should really just tell him. I'm sure Edward feels the same about you too," Winry said, sounding sad.
You looked back at her surprised, staying silent, before you burst out laughing.
"Y-you, think that, that I, like Edward!?" You managed to ask between laughs. Eventually your laughter turned into a coughing fit, giving Winry time to respond.
"W-well yeah, you've been watching him and Al spare since you've been here. I just assumed," Winry trailed off.
You put a hand on her shoulder, attempting to catch your breath.
"I know that you like Edward, and I'm positive he feels the same way about you. I wouldn't want to steal him away from you. Besides," you glanced back down at the two of them, seeing their sparring match nearing its end. "You've got the wrong brother."
"You mean," Winry sounded surprised, and happy,"you and Alphonse?"
"I-I haven't told him yet, or asked him if he feels the same," you said, a bittersweet tone in your voice.
Winry squealed. You gave her an odd look, confusion written all over your face. She had her hands on her mouth, obviously trying to not reveal anything. She knew something, you were sure of it. You decided to just let it go for now, and you looked back at the Elrics.
Alphonse had his back to the house, while Edward was looking towards it. He noticed that you and Winry were watching, and an idea popped into his head.
You sniffled, feeling as though your nose was wet inside. You started to move your hand towards your face. As you touched your nose lightly, Edward shouted something.
"Al, (Y/n)'s looking at you!" He ran towards his younger brother as Alphonse turned to see. Al was knocked to the ground, but you were a little preoccupied at the moment to care that you had been used as a distraction.
When you had removed your hand, there was red on it. Blood. Your nose was bleeding. Out of nowhere.
Again.
"Dang it dang it dang it dang it," you muttered repeatedly as you ran inside. Red had already started to get on your light gray shirt, an obvious stain now on the fabric. "And I really liked this shirt, too."
You ran down to the kitchen and grabbed a paper towel, holding it to your nose. Winry had stayed outside when you came in, and you were somewhat okay with that. You knew exactly what to do in these types of instances, because of their multiple occurrences, you didn't need anyone panicking over you.
After about a minute, you pulled the towel away to discover the blood hadn't slowed in the slightest. You let out an exasperated sigh, placing the towel back in its previous spot.
"I just hope Al doesn't come in and see me like this."
Speak of the devil, you heard a door open and footsteps come towards the kitchen, accompanied by a clanking sound.
"Are you kidding me?" You muttered to yourself.
"U-um, (Y-Y/n), about how Ed distracted me," Al began as he reached the kitchen.
"I can't really talk right now Alphonse, I'm...busy," you said, keeping your back to him, trying to not let him see why you really couldn't talk.
"O-oh, okay," he sounded sad, and you immediately felt bad.
"I-it's not that I don't want to talk to you or anything, and it's not your fault that I can't talk right now. I'm just a bit," you trailed off, trying to think of the right word, "injured."
"Injured? Are you hurt? Let me see," Alphonse started moving towards you, and you moved in the same direction as him, attempting to keep the distance equal.
"I-I'm fine, it's just a little blood."
"Blood!?" Al sounded scared. He hurried towards you and grabbed your hand that wasn't holding the towel. Your face shifted to a much redder color, and you were grateful that it was still covered. You remained looking away from Al.
"(Y/n), please. Let me see," his voice was concerned, and his tone somehow made you blush even deeper. But you couldn't deny him forever. You sighed and turned back to face him.
"I-it's just a nosebleed. I get them all the time, it's nothing to worry about," you told him.
He gently took your other hand and moved the towel away from your face. Now he was holding both your hands, you doubted that your blush could be more obvious. A trail of semi-dry blood was going from your right nostril down to your lip. Alphonse reached over and got another paper towel, dampened it with water from the sink, and held it to your nose.
"Do you know why only one side is bleeding?"
"No idea, but it's always been like that. I guess I'm just weird," you chuckled. You looked behind Al to see Edward and Winry peering from the doorway at you two. Both of them were smirking, Winry even winked at you. Her squealing from earlier came to mind, and you suddenly had a suspicion of what she had been squealing about.
"Is something wrong, (Y/n)?" Alphonse asked. He hadn't noticed the two blondes in the door. He didn't know they were watching, and you decided to keep it that way.
"N-no, nothing's wrong," you placed you hands over Al's, which was still holding the paper towel to your face. You noticed how much bigger his hand looked compared to yours. Your mind slowly wandered into wondering what it would feel like to hold them, and you ended up completely zoning out.
"(Y/n), are you sure you're okay?" Al asked. Your (e/c) orbs darted up to his face. You could have sworn you could see a light dusting of pink on his helmet. Your eyes quickly looked back down at your hands, when you realized you hadn't let go of Al's hand. Your hands were keeping Al's close to your face. Your blush increased a bit more.
"O-oh, sorry, I zoned out, my mind started wandering a bit," you apologized.
"It's alright," he told you. A moment of silence started to make you feel awkward. Al broke it eventually, "What were you thinking about?"
"N-nothing important," you stuttered out. You decided to try to take the conversation in a different direction. "Have you been thinking about anything recently?"
You could hear Alphonse tense up, and he started rubbing the back of his armored head with his unoccupied hand.
"W-well, there's, um, there's this girl. I-I think I'm in love with her, b-but I think she might like brother instead of me. I mean, I shouldn't get my hopes up, right? I'm just an empty suit of armor, after all. Why should she like me instead of him? At least he has a body."
It felt like your heart was breaking inside, both from hearing him say he liked someone, who was most likely not you, and hearing him talk about himself as he was doing so.
'He likes someone,' you thought, disappointed. You suddenly felt selfish. 'I shouldn't be mad. I want him to be happy. Whoever it is, I should support his relationship with them. It's for the best. If it makes him happy, great,' you inwardly sighed. 'But, I want to be happy, too.'
"What should I do?" Al's question cut into your thoughts, and you pondered what to say to him. Eventually you sighed and told him your opinion.
"Tell her. Love is an emotion based around feelings, not looks or physical being. Whether or not you have a body shouldn't matter to her. If she uses the fact that you're armor as an excuse to why she doesn't like you, then she isn't worth it. She doesn't deserve someone with as beautiful a soul as you have. If you really love her, you need to tell her, before someone else steals her away," you were looking down at the ground the entire time you talked. You couldn't see it, but when you said the 'beautiful soul' part, Al's helmet tinted a much darker pink.
"Um, (Y/n), is there anything else I can do to stop the blood?"
"Oh yeah, I forgot you're still holding that towel to my face. Here, I've got it," you took the towel out of his hands, trying to avoid looking at him. You were pretty good at hiding your feelings of affection, but hiding your feelings of unhappiness was much more difficult.
"(Y/n), what's wrong?"
'Crap, he can always tell when I'm upset,' you mentally cursed.
"Nothing, I'm just mad at my nose for being a little douche bag."
Al chuckled a little, but returned to being serious immediately.
"(Y/n), something is bothering you. What is it?"
You stayed silent, still avoiding eye contact.
"Please, tell me."
You sighed. Alphonse was too cute for you to avoid him forever. You looked up into his eyes slowly.
"I'm just, wondering who the girl you like is," you told him. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the complete truth either.
"Oh, um," now it was Al's turn to avoid eye contact. His face was back to having a pink blush against gray metal.
You could picture Winry's squeals again, and your suspicions were returning. You looked at him, now hopeful.
"W-well, she's kind, and smart, and beautiful, and I always have a hard time not thinking about her. She treats me as though I'm still human, and she puts others before herself. She's, well, she's really selfless sometimes, and she'll do anything to protect the people she loves."
You smiled slightly.
"She must be really nice, I hope she feels the same way about you. I can see why you love her. When are you gonna confess your love?" You asked, eyes now filled with curiosity. Oh how you hoped your suspicions were correct.
"W-well I, um," Alphonse started looking around at everything except you.
"Al, why are you getting all nervous?"
"I, uh, I," he sighed in defeat. There was no way of him getting away with not telling you now. His voice got quieter and quieter as he said, "I sort of, just did confess, because you're, you're who I was talking about."
You stared, poker faced for a few seconds.
'So I was right. Al was talking about me.'
"Alphonse, are you saying that you love me?"
Al kept his gaze on the ground, but nodded enough to create the sound of clinking metal.
"I, um, thought of something to help with the bleeding," you said softly.
Alphonse cautiously looked over at you, unsure whether or not you were returning his feelings.
"Kiss it better?" You asked, blush apparent as you moved the paper towel away from your face. The bleeding had stopped, but you wanted an excuse to get him close to you again.
He remained still, before bending down so that his face was at your level. You moved forward so that where his mouth would be touched your nose.
"See, now it's all better," you chuckled. You stayed only a couple of inches away from Al's face as you decided what you would do next. You moved forward and planted a small kiss on his face. Your face was still a bright pink, and Al was fairing no better.
"You know, I've loved you for a while now. You should have told me earlier," you said.
"W-well, I was scared you wouldn't feel the same, or would want me to have my body back first," Al argued.
"It's fine, I think you're adorable when you're shy anyways. And armor-body or human-body, it doesn't matter to me. What matters is you're you," you told him. You hugged him around his shoulders reassuringly.
"Thanks (Y/n). That's one thing I forgot to say," Al said.
"You forgot to say what?"
"That the girl I love, you, always believes in me, even when I don't."
You cuddled slightly into him.
"Now you just need to do that yourself."
"Yeah, I really should. And, so should you. You're capable of more than you realize. I just wish I could show you how great you really are to me."
Your recently faded blush returned.
"Same goes for you, armor boy," you whispered.
Unknown to you, Edward and Winry had been listening in the entire time. Ed was rolling his eyes at Winry, who was trying desperately to contain her squeals.
"They're so cute! They were made for each other!" She was whispering loudly.
"Yeah, but they probably say the same thing about us."
Winry's cheeks heated up.
"You mean, you think they think we would make a good couple?"
"Yeah, Al's teased me about it before. I don't see why (Y/n) would think any differently."
Winry groaned, gaining Ed's full attention.
"Now they're probably gonna try to set us up together!"
Ed sighed, turning his attention back to you two in the kitchen, smirking.
"Let's just cross that barrier when we get to it."
