Chapter 39

Isabella's POV

It has almost been a month working with Alex and me living with him. It has been nice staying away from my abusive uncle and his family.

My bruises have healed pretty well but still there are some scars on my body. I still have nightmares but no one knows so it's okay.

I stopped working for Rosa. It was nice working for her but due to the workload it was getting difficult to complete her tasks. In the office also I don't really talk with anyone except Samantha. There are many rumours and gossip floating in the office about me but I don't pay any heed to them.

For the last few days Alex has been tense for some reason, he is working till late and leaves early in the morning. I hope everything will be fine soon.

Today some important clients were coming so Alex asked me to prepare the conference room. After preparing the conference room, I went back to my cabin to complete some pending work. As the receptionist called me informing me that the clients had arrived I informed Alex and followed him to the conference room.

When I entered I was shocked to see who the client was. It was Rosa. She suddenly squealed and hugged me tightly. I also hugged her back with the same excitement.

"Oh my god!! Isabella, what are you doing here? When you sent me your resignation letter I was confused but seeing you here with one of my top clients I now understand, but how did you get this job? And what about your family?" She rambled on.

I shushed her. "Calm down. It was just a coincidence that I got this job and due to the workload I quit your job. And about my family, I moved out," I told her. She does not know anything but when she last offered me permanent job, I said that my family does not like me working and she also didn't question me as long as I was working for her in side.

She was going to say something but someone cleared their throat. I then remembered Alex was also present in the room. I sheepishly smiled at him. He was looking at us with a confused gaze. Rosa then cleared his doubt, "Isabella used to work with me before doing small assignments from home. The Dragon algorithm for your data security was prepared by her."
(P.S. I don't know anything about hacking and stuff so bear with me. Correct me if I'm wrong)

"Was it for him?" "Did she do that?" We both simultaneously asked. I had no idea that this algorithm was for the Knights. "Yeah," Rosa chuckled. "How come you didn't know that you were preparing codes for our company?" Alex asked and I royally ignored that he said ours instead of my and said "Um, I never asked Rosa for whom I was doing work. Whenever Rosa gave me any assignment I just did that. No further questions." He nodded in understanding and gestured to start the meeting.

"Russians are trying to fuck up my system. There has been a security breach. Luckily no data has been stolen but I want to upgrade the system," Alex said as soon as we started the meeting. Rosa nodded in affirmation, "I won't do your work this time," she stated.

"What why?" Alex shockingly asked. I was even shocked. Rosa chuckled and said, "You have an asset, use it. Besides I presume Isabella won't be that busy these days. Right?" she said.

I know it's a small chapter but next chapter would be fun!
