"He never takes off the helmet?" Mayfeld questioned.

Xi'an shook her head before mocking Mando. "This is the Way."

She then let out an annoying giggle. Mayfeld glanced back at Mando, inspecting him. "Huh. I wonder what you look like under there. Maybe he's a Gungan."

"Is that why yousa don't wanna show your face?" Mayfeld mocked.

Burg let out a laugh, while Xi'an giggled. I felt my anger rise, furious that they were mocking Mando. How dare they...

"You ever seen his face?" Mayfeld inquired as he looked over at Xi'an.

Xi'an grabbed one of her lekku as she grinned. "A lady never tells."

I rolled my eyes. Stay silent, Mandy. This Mayfeld then turned towards me. "What about you?"

"No, I have not. And unlike you people, I respect personal space." I shot back.

Mayfeld smiled. "I like you, you're a survivor and feisty. No wonder Mando befriended you."

From the corner of my eye, I saw Mando clenching his fists. Fortunately Mayfeld turned back to look at Mando, but things got worse as Mayfeld continued to irritate him. "Aw. Come on, Mando. We all gotta trust each other here. You gotta show us somethin'. Come on. Just lift the helmet up. Come on. Let's all see your eyes."

"I'll do it." Burg offered.

As soon as Burg reached him, Mando grabbed his arm before throwing him back. Unfortunately as Burg flew back, he accidentally touched the control panel, opening up the compartment where the child was. The child let out a giggle as soon as it saw us. My eyes widened in horror. Oh no! Mayfeld immediately took an interest in the child. "Whoa! What is that?"

"You get lonely up here, buddy? Huh?" Mayfeld questioned as he approached the child. He then looked over at Mando and me. "Wait a minute. Did you two make that? Huh? What is it, like a pet or somethin'?"

I could feel my face growing red, losing the ability to speak. Yet I brushed it aside as I grew worried what a mercenary like Mayfeld would do to the child. Mando nodded. "Yeah. Something like that."

"Didn't take you for the type. Maybe that code of yours has made you soft." Xi'an commented. She then looked over at me. "Or has she made you soft?"

I narrowed my eyes at her, but kept my mouth shut. I then looked over at Mayfeld, who was now picking up the child. "Me, I was never really into pets. Yeah, I didn't have the temperament. Patience, you know? I mean, I tried, but never worked out. But I'm thinkin' maybe I'll try again with this little fella. Huh?"

As soon as the child was in Mayfeld's arms, he pretended to drop the child, frightening both Mando and me. I couldn't see his face, but I could tell. Mayfeld chuckled upon seeing my face. At that moment, we heard Zero's voice through Mayfeld's comlink. "Dropping out of hyperspace now."

The ship began to violently shake about. We all quickly held on to the nearest thing. I reached out and accidentally held onto Mando, placing my hands on his breastplate. I was waiting for him for him push me away, but it never happened. Instead he wrapped his arms around my waist, breaking my fall. I could feel my face heat as I looked up at Mando's helmet. Before either one of us could say anything, we then heard Zero's voice again. "Commencing final approach, now. Cloaking signal, now."

The ship then spun upside down, hurling us all around. I saw the child fly out of Mayfeld's arms. I didn't think twice as I ran towards the child. Fortunately, I arrived in time as he landed in my arms. Mando quickly approached us. "Is he all right?"

I nodded. "Yeah, I caught him before he could fall to the ground."

Mando sighed in relief. "Good. Thank you."
