Soulmate

part 15

Yeji and Lia are currently at the Shin's house for Chaeryeong's birthday. She's finally turning 20. Another year until she finds her soulmate.

Karina and Winter is invited as well. Giselle wasn't able to make it because she already made plans with someone else.

The party is pretty much a sleepover. The girls are currently watching movies and telling stories. Yeji would steal glances at Ryujin from time to time. She's been sad since ever since the younger girl took her home, she hasn't really acknowledged Yeji's existence.

The older wonders if she did anything wrong. It's driving her crazy. How can she be sweet one minute then be aloof the next.

"Whats wrong" Lia nudges Yeji's arm to get her attention.

"I feel like Ryujin is avoiding me. She might have felt uncomfortable after she took me home a few days ago" Yeji says in a gloomy mood.

"Why don't you ask her?" Lia suggests.

"Are you crazy?! What if this is just how she really is? And it's all in my head. That would be so embarrassing!" Yeji huffs.

"Yeji unnie are you okay?" Yuna suddenly asks.

"Yeah why?"

"I can hear you being all frustrated over there" Yuna laughs.

Yeji covers her face afraid maybe Ryujin heard it too.

"I'm okay Yuna. Just not feeling well" Yeji lies.

"Do you want to go to the room and rest for a little bit?" Yuna offers.

"I'm okay. Thank you though" Yeji smiles at Yuna.

Yeji saw Chaeryeong, Karina and Ryujin go upstairs. She frowns at the idea that Karina is with them. She doesn't really like how close Karina and Ryujin are.

"Why am I here? Are you two gonna make out and make watch?" Karina asks.

Ryujin throws a pillow at her, "What's wrong with you sicko?"

"But Ryeong, why are we here?" Ryujin faces her bestfriend.

"Why are you avoiding Yeji?" Chaeryeong finally asks.

"Ooh yes. I noticed Yeji looking at you earlier looking sad. What did you do?" Karina joins.

Ryujin exhales, "I don't want to get too close to her. I'm afraid I'll like her if I get to know her more."

"What's wrong with that?" Karina not understanding the problem.

"Multiple reasons. She already knows who her soulmate is and it's clearly not me or she would have said it. And I feel like if I start to like her then I might be betraying Sohee unnie" Ryujin says sadly.

"What does you liking Yeji have anything to do with your sister?" Chaeryeong asks.

"She liked Yeji. Even after finding out they weren't soulmates, she was willing to be with Yeji. I feel like if I like Yeji I'm betraying her."

"Ryujin, I'm sure your sister would understand. She would want you to be happy" Chaeryeong says.

"Well there's also my soulmate. I can't pursue Yeji and leave my soulmate."

Ryujin notice Chaeryeong looking uncomfortable. "Are you okay?"

Chaeryeong immediately nods.

Ryujin stares at her a bit longer before looking away. "Why did you start liking Lia unnie? You've never showed interest in anyone and now that you're older and about to find out who your soulmate is that's when you show interest in someone?" Ryujin questions.

"I have a feeling she's my soulmate?" Chaeryeong hesitantly say.

"How?" Karina's eyes widen.

"Like Ryujin said. I've never showed interest in anyone and all of a sudden I met Lia unnie and it all changes. It has to mean something" Chaeryeong reasons out.

"When are you going to tell Winter she's your soulmate?" Ryujin asks Karina.

"I don't want to burden her with that information yet. I want her to feel the excitement of the unknown. It's really exciting to go to sleep knowing you will see your soulmate in your dream. I can wait for her" Karina says smiling.

"Maybe Yeji is doing the same thing Ryu. Maybe you are her soulmate and she's waiting for you to experience it as well" Chaeryeong quickly say to Ryujin.

"I doubt it. I can usually sense when a girl likes me and Yeji unnie probably just sees me as a little sister like Yuna" Ryujin sighs.

"Ryu. Yeji unnie is an amazing person. You don't want to let that go. Give it a shot maybe?" Chaeryeong trying to convince her bestfriend.

"Lia, do you think Ryujin likes Karina?" Yeji asks her bestfriend.

"No? Why?" Lia asks with her mouth full of food.

"Didn't you see them all over each other earlier? Their bodies are always close to each other and always touching each other" Yeji exasperated.

"Sorry to interrupt but Ryujin doesn't like Karina" Winter sits next to them.

"How do you know? And why are they so touchy with each other?" Yeji asks not believing what Winter said.

"Because Karina is not Ryujin's type. Her type is more like Lia unnie. She probably has a crush on you right now and you just don't know it" Winter shrugs. "As for the touching. They've always been like that. You get used to it."

Yeji frowns. She doesn't like that Ryujin might have a crush on Lia. She knows it won't happen because Lia doesn't see her that way but it still hurts her heart.

"Why don't you call Karina an unnie?" Lia asks curiously.

"As a group we established, were not gonna do the unnie thing. We wanted to be different" Winter smiles.

"What do you think they're doing upstairs?" Yeji questions seems Winter knows two out of the three girls the best.

"Probably asking Ryujin about Lia unnie. Like I said, Lia unnie is her type and they're probably confirming if she has a crush on you or not."

"Why aren't you up there then?" Lia asks.

"Because I don't know how to keep my mouth shut. I tend to reveal secrets so people don't tell me their secrets" Winter grabs a drink from a table.

"Okay that's enough. Winter unnie you should really stop talking. We don't know what they're talking about. Let's not assume" Yuna says giving up on watching the movie since she seems to be the only one doing it at that point.
