Wellston Private High School:

Boys Dorm, 10:35 PM

-----------------------------------------------------

Johns Room:

"Try and use your ability to help people, not hurt them. Use your ability for good, try and use it to dissuade a fight, rather than to settle one."

John's fathers words echoed in his mind relentlessly as he lie on his bed thinking to himself of how he could apply self control to his ability use. But with little progress being made, he brought himself up at the demanding growl of his stomach, forcing his way to the kitchenette so he could make something for himself. He opened numerous cabinets and the fridge more than once hoping that he would see something there a if he looked a second time, but alas nothing remained after his month long suspension.

John decided to leave his dorm briefly as he had no choice but to go and eat out at this point. Making his way to the local convivence store he picked up some microwavable food for the night along with some basics that he could cook with over the next week or so.

"What am I going to do" I'm barely hanging on to Sera at this point as my only friend and the looks that haunt me from the other students is beginning to eat away at my patience again."

John was mumbling to himself as he began the walk back to the school campus with his newly acquired goods.

'Dad told me to use my ability for good, but what does that actually mean? I've only ever use my ability as a source of vengeance against those who hurt me in the past, I've only used it selfishly, the only time I felt I was using it for someone other than myself was for he-'

John was losing himself in thought when he caught himself before he was barreled over by a large black tinted van that was speeding through the intersection between him and the campus.

'Damn, that was close' John thought to himself. 'Who could be in that much of a rush this late at night? They seemed to be heading to the city, guess they could be late for a flight.'

Crossing the street John was now in the final stretch to reaching his dorm and satisfying his hunger which was growing with every step as the anticipation of eating was starting to set in.

Oddly enough, when John reached the boys dorm he noticed that along the way there were red specks all over the ground which got heavier as he approached the entrance to the building.

John thought to himself, 'If I didn't know any better I would think that these drops of red liquid were blood, but I didn't see any destruction or signs of a fight on my way here. Not only, but if someone other than a student entered the campus wouldn't Keene have detected it with his ability?'

Finally reaching the doorway to the dorms, John realized something even more concerning than the already questionable drops of red liquid on the ground. The door which lead to the interior was wide open with more red marks on it, confirming Johns suspicions.

'I didn't want to be right, but it looks like I am, this is definitely blood. Probably caused by a fight and it must be from a student, yet where would this fight have happened, the trial appears to lead to the entrance, but there are not signs of a fight!'

John decided that he was not going to delve too deep into something that so obviously screamed that a fight took place as he was already on a short leash with the Headmaster, not to mention he didn't want to catch any blame for some random mid-tier being beat up.

Making his way to his room he couldn't help but unfortunately notice more and more blood droplets leading the way to what appeared to be his room.

'Oh shit, this blood is only becoming more frequent as I near my room, I hope that nobody is trying to frame me and say I attacked them to get me kicked out,' John internally groaned.

John was rounding the last corner to his room when he heard an audible sliding sound followed by a pronounced thump, he decided that it didn't matter if this was a prank, or some random mid-tier who lost in a fight, the problem was evidently near his room and it was gonna be him to do something about it as the situation was basically unavoidable at this point. Rounding the corner, John's eyes widened in absolute shock. There sat, beaten, burned, and bloodied, was the reporter himself, Isen. An easily identified individual sporting his half black, half orange hairdo, yet what was concerning is not only that he was beaten to such a great extent, but the odd fact that he chose to come to Johns dorm knowing full well that Blyke was not currently living there.

John spoke up, "Isen, what are you doing here all beat up at this hour, I thought Blyke was living with you, so what could you need here?"

Isen sat there in silence which slightly annoyed John as he was trying his best to be nice even though it looked like someone had a knife fight in the hallway from the blood splatters along his doorway. Upon closer inspection John saw that Isen was passed out cold, but was not in any serious, life threatening condition. John made a mental decision that if he was going to try and apply what his father said to him he should start right now, even though all he could see when he looked at Isen was someone who fast-tracked his ultimate ability reveal.

Approaching Isen, John opened the door and grabbed him from under the arms, pulling him into his room, shutting the door behind them. John propped Isen up in a chair and made his way to the counter to prepare himself and now Isen something to eat. Deep down inside John's intuition was pestering him to realize that whatever made Isen overcome his fear of John enough to basically crawl here must be bigger than the drama they had at school.

End of the Prologue for Second Chance. I hope this prologue give you, the reader, a decent understanding of what is to come, and may even have slightly piqued your interest with the story and its concept. The basis for this story is off of the original Uru-chan plot, however the changes that are seen are my own ideas and thoughts on how the story could have gone, for fun.

All credit for Unordinary goes to its creator, Uru-chan.

Next time on Second Chance...

"Isen what happened to you?"

"Ah man, does it look that bad?"

"Well if you were trying to look like you had just been through a fire, it worked."
