"King Nolan, hanging around a peasant girl, especially one of her color isn't a smart move for your image." Nobleman Sinwell addresses me and an anger so fierce flares within me. It's been two months since the beauty that is Ciara has changed my life for the better.

"Is that so?" I ask him and he nods, sticking his nose in the air. "Please do explain then."

"Gladly, what will the people of Respiria say when they see their beloved King enjoying the presence of someone whose skin resembles dirt, and hair untamed?" He says smugly and I look at him, my anger increasing tenfold.

"Mr. Sinwell, do you know what I do to bigots and racist idiots?" I ask him, leaning back in my chair.

"Racist? I'm not racist, My king." He trusts to correct himself and I chuckle as his fear becomes visible.

"I kill them." I answer my own question and I pull out my sword, slicing through him easily before he can say another word. "Now does anyone else have something to say about my maid?" They shake their heads and I put my sword away.

"Nolan, I have to clean up your room. You can't just keep feeding me every time I bring this up." Ciara tells me, placing her hands on her hips and glaring at me.

"I just don't want you to be hungry." I fight the smile off my face as she huffs shaking her head. "Come and eat."

"Nolan." She sighs out my name and I fight off the lust that threatens to cloud my brain. Many people in the castle know that I'm fond of the beauty in front of me, they just don't know how fond of her I am. She sits in her chair and I smile when she takes her first bite.

"Good right?" I ask and she nods, a smile on her face. With Ciara I can be myself, not the monster that everyone makes me out to be.

"Oh, I have some exciting news." She bounces in her seat and I chuckle.

"We'll go on and tell me then." I prompt, sounding just as excited as her.

"You remember Troy? That guard I told you about?" Her hazel-green eyes look up at me questioningly.

"How can I not?" I mumble. Troy is the guy Ciara has been in love with since she got here. My heart cracks a little every time she mentions him.

"Anyways," she rolls her eyes at me, "he asked me out. I have a date with him in the gardens tonight." She sighs wistfully.

"Well I wish you the best of luck on your date." I say as genuinely as I can, forcing a smile on my face.

She's supposed to be mine.
