Wrongfully Mates [MxM]

Chapter 7

We stared at him, the sight really was horrific, it looked like he was beaten down before he was finally put out of his misery.

'I wonder if I'm the reason he's dead?' I thought to myself, but I found myself not caring all that much.

Chatter echoed throughout the clearing once more until Charles spoke, "What the hell?! Did they really just come all the way here to fuck with us?" I saw Daniels eyes narrow.

"It's not like they weren't already leaving people dead everywhere, I guess they decided to hand deliver." Daniel replied letting out a long sigh.

I heard Bernie click his tongue, "You should have attacked them when they were right in front of everyone sooner."

I watched Charles slowly turn around, "Excuse me?" Bernie shrugged, "Could have killed them then, but you didn't."

Charles snarled and took a step towards Bernie, a good few inches taller than him, yet that only caused Lexi to stand in-between them and growl at Charles, which she was then silenced by her father, Daniel.

Suddenly Daniel turned his attention towards me, "Why didn't you follow after us?" he asked, "Cause he's scared." Bernie replied, which caused Lexi to smack his arm.

I shrugged, "I guess I was a little shocked, but it wouldn't have made a difference either way, we'd all win, or we'd all die." Charles glared at me, "I don't think I like your attitude lately."

I bowed my head in submission even though I wasn't sorry, "My apologies, alpha." Charles snorted and turned his attention to the crowd, "I think we should start our hunt sooner than expected, I'll give the proper information tomorrow when everyone is here, and we have a better idea of what to do."

With that, him and Daniel walked off, soon the training clearing broke into groups as people burst into conversation.

Slowly I left the clearing and took off my clothes behind a bush before shifting.

I sniffed the air before putting my nose to the ground, I should be able to sniff my mate out better than anyone.

Especially since they were just here.

I quickly followed their scent, I realized I never stopped to really appreciate it, as weird as it sounds.

I followed their warm soft scent that reminded me of campfires and roasted marshmallows, I knew they were getting closer as their scent became stronger.

Eventually their scent led me to the edge of our territory, I stopped at the border.

'Is it really okay to cross over alone? Will I be safe?'

I couldn't even really confirm with myself that they wouldn't harm me, but I guess I'd find out when I got there.

I took my first few steps outside Haowpack territory, I took a deep breath and started running, following the delicious scent of my mate.

I slowed down once I reached some sort of horrible looking cave.

If that's what you can call it.

It looked more like hollow mud then stone, yet still seemed safe enough to live in, I crept closer, the strong smell of my mate confirmed she was in there.

And most likely had been staying here the whole time.

I stared at the cave for awhile, I had to go in, because I had to tell my mate that she had to leave before they killed her, and that we couldn't be together.

Because she has a tendency to murder my friends and family.

I snuck over into the cave, sniffing the entrance before I went in, I looked around, it was dark.

There was eaten carcasses of dead animals in some places, water dripped from a part of the ceiling where the ground was hallow a little further down, gathering into a hole that was dug.

I went in deeper, it was a pretty steep climb, until I reached a part that was flat, some clothes laid on the ground.

'I guess she really was living here.'

I walked in a little further, I guess she wasn't here, I froze as suddenly the light from outside was blocked.

I didn't turn around but I felt something-

Someone-

Grab me, I felt my paws lift off the ground, but a strange wave of calm swept over me, suddenly, a deep voice whispered into my ear, "Your wolf is gorgeous."

I started struggling and yelping, twisting and turning trying to get out of this man's grasp, I felt my feet be returned to the ground and I whipped around growling at the strange man behind me, his face flashed with hurt.

"Hey.. It's me, I didn't mean to scare you.." he said, his voice, I hated it, it was scary, almost like it echoed when he spoke.

I looked up into familiar swamp green eyes, the man had soft looking brown hair that reminded me of the beautiful elegant fur of my mate.

My eyes widened.

No way in hell-

He wore a baggy black shirt and black sweatpants, I let out a snarl as he tried to get closer, he was blocking the entrance.

Not only was my mate a ruthless killer, she was also a man.

He frowned, "At least shift back so I can talk to you, I want to see your face up close." I backed away further into the cave, I wonder if he knew I, too, was also a man.

Not only was his wolf gigantic, but his human form was huge, he stood blocking the way of the entrance before sitting down, I couldn't tell if he was purposely trapping me or not.

"You came here to find me right? I'm so happy, I wanted to see you so bad, my chest kept aching everytime I thought of you." I continued to slowly move back, he frowned.

"You're not in any danger here.." he reached out next to him and I saw him grab a white shirt and grey sweatpants, "Here, put these on then if you aren't comfortable." I stared at him and he rolled his eyes and turned around.

My bones cracked as I shifted back to my human form, I quickly changed into the clothes that were much too big for me, suddenly I felt small, I pushed my black hair back only for it to fall back over my forehead.

I snorted and watched as my soon-to-be not mate turned around.
