I stand waiting in front of the door as Lizzie walks forward to knock. She stands back and looks at me as I fiddle nervously.

"You're going to be okay. Try to relax love," Lizzie tells me, reaching for my hand. She gives it a little squeeze letting me know she is with me and I take a breath out relaxing slightly.

I am extremely nervous to meet Lizzie's family, especially her parents. I'm excited too but not as much as I am afraid. I just need to be myself and pray that is enough.

"Lizzie!" One of the twins screams as they open the door.

"Ashley!" Lizzie screams back hugging her sister. So that one is Ashley, noted.

"And you must be Lizzie's roommate. Nice to meet you! I'm Ashley," she says holding her hand out for me to shake it.

"I guess you are right! My name is y/n. It's nice to meet you too," I reply. She seems nice.

"Well, come in! You can both put your bags upstairs in the first room on the left. That's Lizzie's old room. I hope you both don't mind sharing a room while you are here. With the whole family home we're a bit cramped," she explains and I nod.

"Thank you. We will be right back," Lizzie tells her and she nods, walking into another room.

I grab all our bags and Lizzie shows me where to go. I think about everything her sister just said because I'm now confused. Do they think I'm her roommate?

We get in the room and I look around observing the pictures, decorations and furniture. I guess this is Lizzie's old room. It's pretty cute. Not what I expected to be honest.

"So this is where you grew up?" I ask her and she nods slightly smiling.

"A lot of things happened in this room. I'm sure you will hear some of the stories during dinner," she says giggling.

"Oh, now I need to hear them," I say wrapping my arms around her waist pulling her in close.

"You will don't worry," She says and I kiss her on the nose making it do that cute scrunch that it does when she's happy.

"So what was that about me being your roommate?" I question and she looks just as confused as me.

"I have no idea where that came from honestly. I told them that I was bringing my girlfriend home for our family Christmas and they seemed really excited about it. They probably just saw all the articles about us and thought I meant girl friend, not my partner. Don't worry, I will straighten it out." She says nonchalantly. I start to worry and have a feeling that something is off but I just smile to make her feel okay.

"I'm sure you are right. We will do it together. Everything will be fine," I say and let out a breath.

Once we unpack our stuff, we make our way back downstairs so that I can meet the rest of her family.

"Oh, there they are!" Says Lizzie's other sister MK.

We continue walking into the kitchen and my eyes meet with her parents as they are staring at us both.

"Uh hi everyone! I'm y/n. It's nice to meet you all," I spit out breaking the silence.

"It's nice to meet you too dear," her mother says and I smile in her direction.

I spend the next hour making small talk with the family, making my way around to each person trying to get to know them better. I seem to have hit it off with MK and we seem to have a lot in common which is nice. Her dad on the other hand has barely said a word and has been giving me fishy glances since I got here. It's probably nothing and I'm just overthinking it because I am nervous. It is fine.
