TW: Descriptions of blood and injury.
The blank minty grey wall stared back at you as you gazed at it with unfocused eyes. Your mind, somewhere between reality and fiction flickered in and out of consciousness, only in part registering the thumping pain in your abdomen. Your stomach was warm, the dampness trickling down onto the mattress beneath you, bringing with it a deep smell of rust and iron.
Then a multicolored sheen flashed in your vision before a pulling sensation in your guts made you jolt in your spot and take a sharp inhale that left you gagging for a few seconds. The smell of blood in the air was so thick it was suffocating. You gripped the sheets beneath you with sweaty palms as your stomach contracted multiple times.
"There we go." You heard a voice say. "For a few seconds, I was sure you were gone."
To the best of your ability, you craned your neck to the side to gaze at the owner of the voice.
336. Her serial number popped into your head as you gazed at her face. On the bed to your right sat a kid about your age, she was taller than you clearly malnourished but still pulling some muscle on her twig-like limbs. Her hair matted and of a muted yellow color fell in clumps onto her eyes obscuring them completely. 336's hands were littered in scars, the long violent streaks completely obscuring her hands and only outlining the few missing fingernails.
"You were not breathing for longer than I've ever seen, I started to think you kicked the bucked."
"..." You stared at her with a blank look before your eyes moved down to the source of your pain.
Your stomach was completely torn open, everything around it stained a dark red. You could feel your quirk repairing your organs as you sat there not even fully registering the pain. It was all so red... the blood was fresh, it created a large circle around your body on the sheets.
"What happened?" You croaked out.
"Ah, so you don't remember?" She asked rubbing an alcohol wipe on her own bleeding ankle. "From what I know they took a few organs of yours and ran with them. Seemed very pleased." She clicked her tongue as her nose scrunched up in distaste. "Fuckers didn't even bother to stitch you up."
You looked up at the ceiling with a blank look, thoughts still muddled "What did...they take...?"
"My guess is as good as yours." 336 shrugged. "I mean they did take your organs, aren't you like, able to tell...?"
You shook your head. "I only feel pain."
She did not reply to that, but you soon felt the comforting touch of her hand against your forehead. You could feel every dip and tear in her palm but none the less you leaned into her warmth. You haven't been friends for very long, you don't know if you could even be considered friends, but you met her so much in the hospital room it was hard not to exchange words.
"Why do they...do this?" You asked flickering your eyes closed.
336 stood silently for a few seconds before replying "If a person has anything others will exploit it." She sighed, shakingly smoothing out your hair. 336's hands were always shaking, no matter what she did. " People have...well they have souls. And others will exploit that. They have emotions, and others will exploit that. They have bodies, minds, dreams. And they...they have quirks." You felt her finger curl a piece of your hair. "Quirks are so unique, you can do anything as long as you have the right one. How easy is that you exploit?" She whispered the last part, once again smoothing out your locks to the side.
You opened your eyes, searching for 336's optics and dropping your gaze once you realized they were still obscured by her hair. You never saw her eyes, but you always imagined that they would be beautiful. No matter how rough everything about 336 was, how her voice was scratchy and noticeably more boyish how her face was sunken in and clothes patched in blood. You always saw in her the kid that she so obviously was.
